I feel like a boom mic would get in the way and get annoying. I have Astro A50s (that I got for <$200 on sale) and they've been great. The volume adjustment can be kind of annoying, but it's infinitesimal. And any minor problems I've had were fixed by power cycling the headset or unplugging and replugging the receiver.

Quite the opposite. Mine is off to the right side of my monitor. With the gain adjustment dial (on the back of the mic) you you can get it to just pick up your voice and virtually no background noise. Completely out of sight and mind, especially on the mic arm I have (<$15 on Amazon).

I do agree with the standalone mic. My meteoric just hangs out in the corner where my monitors meet. I never even think about it, but my teammates can hear me just fine.


This thing was well built, the buttons are gone (daughter got ahold of it), but it's 4 years old and still kidding ass.

Yeah standalone mics rock, can't wait to set mine up with a boom above my monitor. Sick of headsets.

10 years since Half-Life 2: Episode 3 announcement, almost 9 years since the Orange Box launch, and we've yet to see or hear any news about Half-Life from Valve. Fucking unbelievable.

Anyone picking up (or already got one of) the new Nvidia GPUs? GTX1080 is a bit rich for my wallet, but I am thinking GTX1070 looks to be a sweet card for the money. Just waiting for the cards to be in stock and the custom cards to get released...

As far as games go, I currently play FIFA, TF2, a bit of HL2 DM, GTA V. Looking forward to a few games coming up, especially Dishonored 2.

I'm definitely going to be getting a GTX1070 and hopefully a 1440p monitor when I build a new computer. I've got a bunch of older games in my Steam library that I haven't even played yet so I'm playing all those on my aging HD6970 before upgrading and playing the newer games.
