Tail of the Dragon vets - Best route to take

I need to get to Chattanooga, TN from Robbinsville, NC. I've driven the tail a while ago, and I found that Robbinsville is a good starting point if you want to have all the options of the twisty roads you can take in the area.

I'm going to be in my E30, it's going to have some cargo in it so I won't be ripping it hard, but I still want to take a nice route to Chattanooga.

What would you vets take? It looks like I can take US 129 (the actual deals gap), or US 143 into US 165.

When will you take this trip? All the south-east e30 folk are gonna be there this weekend. And as for your question, idk bro. It's probably fun either way.

I'm going next Wednesday, actually driving from NJ to Manchester, Tennessee for a music festival. But can't miss out on driving the tail.

If there's one thing I learned about being foreign and going to more..close minded places...it's to ALWAYS SHAVE TO A BABY FACE. This damn beard will get me way too many looks.

The E30 should be fine. I'm carrying a slave cylinder and some liquids.

            Bonnaroo is indeed happening!
Let me know how it's like for you guys this weekend. Would love to attend. Unfortunately big car meet and drives like that is where I usually get in the most trouble

You said you are in Robbinsville so you could just do a run up and back on the dragon there is nothing exciting about 72. I would take the skyway, 165,143 its a great road. Then when you get to tellico take 68 south to 60, All 2 lane twisty roads with little to no traffic. Lunch around Ducktown, 64 towards Chattown

Took the Cherohala, forgot how long it was, hit it at sunset on Wednesday, no cars on the road, was quite nice.
