Can someone explain to me the attraction of a lumpy cam?

That's my issue with "built not bought". It tends to divide people into two groups and it doesn't make any sense."Rebuilt" to "custom specs" is an oxymoron. Custom is different then stock.
Nothing against you guys but my guess is you never have actually "built" a motor, or chassis or anything that you can't buy off the shelf. While you may use some off the shelf parts to make these custom setups; it requires far more work, time, skill and energy to make those parts function in your "build". So the term, "rebuilt" doesn't apply, that would assume you were using all factory spec parts as Exodus implied.
It all comes down to time and/or money. In most situations we don't have both, because we have non-car jobs. Then your 'build time' is left to the weekends and can take a long time and no time for fun/family/whatever.
Then there's those who work in the industry and have the tools, experience and can basically do it all in house, totally different story.
This guy summed it up well

I take back what I said about "nobody suspecting a thing" with that car, John. Anyone who hears that is definitely going to suspect something.Leave a comment:

We have a 94 Olds Cutlass sleeper here right now getting custom headers made, and he is running our Little Thumper cam. I will see about getting a sound clip. Thing sounds amazing. This made me chuckle. You should hear a 60* V6 with a bit of work done to it even with minimal overlap lope and rumble at idle.... LOL I have seen an LQ1 throw a fireball out WG loud pipe about 3 feet long when the the throttle plates slam closed...
Firebird knows exactly what I am talking about..... ;)
Lopey Cam is the song of high performance no more no less, sadly I have been away from such things so long, I feel as if I have forgotten it allLeave a comment:

Trying to sound smart by being incorrectly pedantic is funny. The word "rebuilt" in no way demands it be taken back to it's previous state.
From Merriam-Webster (although other dictionaries are similar):
rebuild
verb re·build \(ˌ)rē-ˈbild\
: to build (something) again after it has been damaged or destroyed
: to make important improvements or changes in (something)Leave a comment:

I wish I had a good enough mic to tape the 205hp Ford Kent in one of our Ginettas. Idles like a dream and will blow your eardrums straight out when you touch the throttle.
Matter of taste. Idles are like peanut butter: Some people like it smooth, and some like it really lumpy.Leave a comment:
