College is overrated... I have $62k in college debt from 7 years of college and I now make double ($120,000/yr) what I did with my college-degree job ($54,000/yr) and all I had to do was pass a couple state licensing boards... about a month or two of my time vs. 7 years... and I know people who have never even graduated from college (or even set foot on a campus) and make double to quadrupole what I make per year and we are all sub-30yrs old...
College is highly overrated... initiative and determination is not.
Edit: Congrats on the pay raise though... its always a nice feeling.
I will be attending a local community college and attaining my ASE Certification. I will be working full time while doing this as the hours for school are VERY flexible. Other then the occasional class, all your lab work you can do anytime you want. You can also take things as slow or fast as you want. You can finish everything in as little as 14-18 months or spread t out as long as you want over a few years. I plan on finishing as ASAP and then more then likely going out of state to get BMW STEP and other programs for AUDI, Mercedes and VW + any other European manufacturers as I feel the need for. All of that however can be spread out over several years.
The cool thing is that I got a bunch of college credit back in highschool, so all I will have to take is a basic 1-credit math class. Otherwise, all I'll be doing is working on cars. :)
