Hey guys, thought I would post this drama fest on here for idk what reason. Maybe for advice, maybe to vent, maybe just to give you guys something to read.
Here's the story.
My aunt married a really nice old hot rod guy years back, he had this really rad 65 ranchero that he had been getting the body ready for paint,
though the years I watched him build motor after motor for it, and at the time i was working at a speed shop and i saw him lay down a ton of cash.
he ended up painting it cherry red and i could only imagine its worth around $20,000.
threw the years they have their up and downs, he has like 10 strokes, and my aunt, an alcoholic, started drinking again and did what she has done in the past and call the cops and say he beat her. Like i said this has happened before, and her husband can barely move, so i was skeptic of these claims., but who am I to lay blame? they get back together when he gets out (like a month or something small)
fast forward to current day, he gets hooked on scrips, so does my aunt and they get in a huge fight, and she moves out. He comes to me for advice(granted im 23) and I gave him the best advice I can. I mention that i didn't believe the claims she made about him that got him arrested.
things get worst, more of my family get involved and he comes again for advice, and i said you just need to get out and focus on yourself, get a hold of a social worker or a church.
Today, he comes in to my work and says Im gonna make your day. He tells me that he is done with my aunt and he is gonna try to get in to a assisted care home. He told me some of the drama, then he lays down a bomb shell.
"I am gonna give you my ranchero"
My stomach knots, I have never owned a car worth more than maybe $4000.
so i tell him I dont know if im comfortable with that, he said he wants me to have it for being the only person that believes him. he is gonna get it running and bring me the title next week.
So here are some things running though my mind,
1) he has kids, and from what i hear they aren't the most upstanding people in the world. I can only imagine they see that ranchero as a big fucking dollar sign, and when they find out of all people who he is giving that to is his ex-wifes nephew, I can only imagine the drama they will bring to me and my family
2)My aunt, I can only imagine, will be pissed. now i am not at all close to her so i don't really care, but my son is baby-sat at her mother(my grandmothers) house once a week, I don't need her going to my girlfriend with any BS when she is dropping him off because of it.
3) Im not a ford guy, I dont own standard tools! Im in the middle of buying a house so I would have a garage to park in here at some point but I dont know anything really about it, and i cant imagine what collectors insurance cost for someone my age.
4)What if he is high or something and its just all talk? I would be a little disappointed, but I wouldn't be upset cause it sounds like a huge thing to take on.
So if he isn't just talking, and he does give it to me, i pretty sure i would never sell it, since its a gift, I would just take care of it, in-case in like 5 years he is like hey can i have the ranchero back.
what do you guys think?
