I always consider bikes, then its a thread like that which will remind me to not EVER get a bike.
My condolences goes out to anyone who's lost someone from a bike accident. And as already stated, there's simply too many unattentive people in cars these days...

exactly - bikes sound like a great time but I will never be owning one and it's things like this that remind me of that.
If you guys read the post a little below and look at the signature of the guy who posted it, the girl Emily died. 11 days later. So she will not be getting any better.
My current gf used to be in the whole bike scene and her bf pulled some pretty stupid stuff with her on the back. I would never risk my own life on a bike, especially to do stunts on a freeway, let alone with someone on the back. They have that saying for bike riders, "There are those who have gone down, and those who are going down. You will be on the ground."
Im sorry for the girl and her family but obviously this is a case of unmanaged risk. Driving agressively on a bike is bad enough but with a passenger it should be considered homicide.
My friend just died really recently too. Her name was Emily and she was the pastor's daughter. She was riding passenger on her friend Aaron's bike when they decided to race a car. All I know now is that my friend Mannie is also in jail, and that Emily has passed away. She was really popular, everyone I know knew about this. I hear Aaron is still in ICU though. RIP Emily Dang
EDIT: nevermind, that thread is about the same person, I just read it after replying.
Okay um, I didnt read the whole thread there to see if it was brought up at all but "Both Emily's and Aarons helmet came off before they landed. Emilys helmet was on the right shoulder and aarons helmet was near his bike. both were concious when i was trying to calm them down." WTF?? A helmet WILL NOT come off if properly strapped on, it wont happen. Perhaps it wouldnt have prevented her death but at least put your damn helmet straps on. I work at a karting school and I see this shit all the time. It really pisses me off (but I cant be mad of course) when people just put their helmet and neck collar on and dont do anything with the straps! Cmon, see them? Use them. Dont know how to put them on?? ASK again. Hard to believe people can be so stupid.
I am sorry to hear of anyone's passing, but I can't help but notice that word "race" in the accounts. It's a constant that is mentioned along with death and jail.
I encourage anyone that has a competitive streak in relation to automobiles to take the time and effort to get in a spec series. SCCA/NASA Spec E30, Spec RX-7, Formula Ford, any series where the cars are equal. Preparation and chassis tuning are important but driving ability is the main element of competition. Anyone with the money to build a competitive street racer can afford to race in a spec series. These cars sell for $5-$15K with fresh motors.
I am always amazed at the number of driver's who will not compete on driving ability alone.
Sorry to hear about this, my condolences go out to you and the family and anyone that was fortunate enough to have known her. I know how it feels to lose someone I would never wish it on someone else. RIP.
Formula ford isnt a "Spec" class, there are different chassis, new old, good bad etc. However, it is relatively low budget. The Spec class I can immediately think of besides Spec E30, Spec RX7 (not real big anymore where I am), is Spec Miata. Those things are pretty cheap, fast, and there's a MILLION of them out there racing. If you want open wheel racing, even though theyre kinda slow there's always a large field of Formula Vee's driving around. They're a really nice class to learn momentum in because they have such little power :)
