So, the big thing is "windows is buggier and more virus prone than the mac OS", but the new "oh my god steve jobs is our saviour" cry is that the Mac can now run Windows.

    I don't get it.

        I got a Dell XPS 600 Gen 5.

It eats Macs, and has never had a virus. I got a copy of Symantec Antivirus Corporate Edition, which never has to be "rebought", so to speak. It runs perfect, and I've only had to reboot the computer due to a crash once. I've had it for a solid 6 months and I love it. Fuck those Mac ads. Also have incredibly easy access to opening and modifying anything in the case.

2GB Ram, 3.2 Pentium 4, Nvidia 6800 card, 500 GB SATA HDD's. The rest is other nice goodies I got. Gonna get a new video card soon. I LOVE MY PC.

EDIT: There's a new Dell XPS that runs quad Nvidia 7900 cards...

powerbook pro would be my recommendation.

you can now dual boot those to run xp or even linux if you want. gives you the best of both worlds.

i find myself switching over to windows only for specific applications, the general stuff is excellent on the mac side.

I don't participate in these threads anymore. That's probably a good thing.

Since you want a laptop, I'd go with a Mac. The Windows laptops out today, with very few exceptions right now, won't be able to run Windows Vista very well (if at all) when it comes out sometime in 2007. Since a major Office revision is also in the works, and there are a lot of added features/security in Vista, this would be a deal breaker for me. In the next few months there might be some Core Duo 2 laptops that will run Vista, but it'll be a little while before we see them. I'd get an iBook--they offer an excellent feature set and experience (plus OSX is still a better OS than XP).

But, if you were looking for a desktop, I'd recommend Windows. I love the design of Macs, especially the iMac, but they just can't be upgraded enough to keep up with the technology. They just got Intel Core Duo chips; that's cool, but Intel just brought out Core Duo 2 chips, which whips everyone else's asses.

Anyway, hope that helps your decision.
