I've done it, and I really have no aversion to doing it. It really is harmless fun. Drinking is really a whole lot worse, you can end up spending the night vomiting or getting alcohol poisoning.

Over the long term it does have its effects.Once you start doing it by yourself you need to stop. I know some people who have changed after a year or two (or 5) of doing that shit every day. They have gotten noticably slower... or maybe that's just because they've taken a hit in the past 12 hours, can't really tell. But either way I'd describe them as "perma-fried", not really a good thing.

Pretty much, if you're going to be a super-straight edge and never get drunk or high, then either you're going to have to avoid any social situation where that might come up or just learn to live with other people's choices. You might as well fucking try it, you're only young once. I know many kids (myself included) who swore they would never smoke or drink (because, let's face it, middle school drug/alcohol education is scary shit), then afterwards they say "Wow, that was fun. What's the big deal?".

Have you gone through college orientation yet? It's hilarious how they treat alcohol in those things. They don't spend one minute telling you not to drink, they teach you how to drink responisibly. It's pretty much accepted that underage drinking is going to happen. Just because something is illegal doesn't make it wrong, or even that dangerous. These things are made illegal not to stop them from happening (you don't think your lawmakers had any fun during college? HA!), it's to keep them controlled and hidden away, as it should be.

I used to smoke on occassion, I quit. It will effect anyone if they do it enough, and it does indeed cause you to lose ambition and drive but still I'm not going to dismiss any of my friends if they smoke, they will still be there for me if I need help in any situation. It's a choice, you could have said "No thanks I want to watch the rest of the movie, have fun guys."
