Personally, I don't think weed is a good thing. Yea, it's not horrible - but why bother. I'm fine with being drunk, but I just don't like the idea of smoking.

HOWEVER - if one chooses to do it, I'm not going to bitch and moan about it. it's their choice. I mgiht give them shit though.

How can you make that statement about taking away ambition and drive? Everyone is unique, and I personally have yet to lose any ambition in my life from smoking. I hold a 3.6 gpa, hold a steady job, have a great relationship, and plenty of work ethic. Some people dont have the same reaction to pot as others. This isnt to say that some people arent affected more. My best friend doesnt smoke because he turns into a useless blob when he does. So he chooses not to and thats cool. Everyone reacts differently, same how some people can have a casual drink every once and a while, where as other turn into raging alcoholics.

people who have 'opinions' or 'judgements' about an issue are often people with no meaningful firsthand experience with whatever the issue is...

there is nothing (interesting) in life that first-hand experience won't dramatically change your opinion about... love, war, drugs, whatever.

there's all kinds of fun out there, and in general, if you are in touch with your feelings, and trust yourself & yer making decisions for the right reason...

my advice: friggin try it! a couple of times!! right will still be right, wrong will still be wrong --to you! nothing diminishes that if yer head is on straight.

When I was in highschool I was a stoner and when I would go on a 3 day bender of getting high all weekend I could even tell myself that I was slower and stupider. If I stopped for a bit I would recover in a few days.

My arguement... its illegal to possess it and to get high you must possess it so... it is wrong to smoke weed. My 2 cents. Someone bitch at me about it :) Although... some of my friends are potheads and they come up with the coolest shit sometimes when they are high. youre right, i can only make comments like that based on my own experience and the experience of my friends i grew up with. my drug use in my youth would make you fuckers look like a bunch of sallies. i have 25 years of sobriety as of last june. drugs ruined my life for a good long time and most of the guys i hung out with are fucking dense or dead. we all started out smoking weed. ill look all you fuckers up in 10 years and i promise you bsaint will have his head on straighter than you guys debating the merits of weed.

I don't smoke pot anymore but when I used to smoke on a regular basis I would hop on my laptop and type all the cool shit I came up with. I have come up with some great ideas while stoned. A lot of the greatest movies, music, literature and art in general was made while high as a kite.

People have such a negative view of illegal drugs just because they are illegal and their teachers told them they were bad back in Kindergarten. Alcohol kills hundreds of thousands of people every year as do cigarettes and LEGAL drugs. No one has EVER died from smoking pot. All other illegal drugs combined only kill a fraction of the amount of people that legal drugs do. I personally think that everybody should try pot, ecstasy, shrooms and acid at least once. Every one of those drugs was an amazing experience for me and I wouldn't trade those experiences for anything. Oh and stay away from coke, meth and heroine. All the bad drug stories that you hear are about those drugs.

I am not talking about stupid shit like that. For example: Lewis Carroll wrote Alice in Wonderland while on opium. Pink Floyd, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath were all heavy drug users at the height of their popularity. Im a stoner and Im not going to agree that everyone should try exstasy, acid or shrooms. Those are serious drugs and could fuck with your body/mind. Pot is not going to reap that kind of toll. Thats not to say that is has effects either. Your smoking unfiltered shit all the time, its not good for your lungs. Long term usage does show some memory loss, but that is regained after you stop smoking. Exstacy can kill you, Shrooms can kill/ make you go insane, and acid can send you to the loony bin for life. Screw that man, Ill stick to a couple bong loads.
