Put a bad taste in my mouth, felt like one guy had a bad run with a bum e39/BMW, and then b/c he wrote for Jalponik, decided to bash the shit out of it and the brand.
+1. That was Freddy "Tavarish" Hernandez. His articles and comments are pretty biased. I feel there is a lot of nut swinging towards the guy. The website is somewhat amusing, but the hipster-esque bitching about cars that aren't Mazda Miatas is annoying.

I used to visit Jalopnik out of habit, like a nervous tick of web browsing.

All the cross posts from Jezebel and the other whiny, unimpressive leftist"journalists" drove me from it. I used a google add-in to block it on my browser to break my habit.

Thankfully, Hulk took care of the rest. OOOHYEEAH. Screw Gawker.

Jalopnik is trash. I feel like that guy who is "a car guy" but does not own any tools. the guy who bought a car already on racelands and just wants scene points.

in for more jalopnik style blogs...

I agree. I stopped visiting them daily when every single day seemed to be a stupid article about Doug and his Aston Martin.

That being said - what does everyone read on a daily basis with daily content? I need to seriously updated my daily auto bookmarks...

I blame Jalopnik for the rising price on e30s.

E30 tax is more like Jalopnik tax.

The more popular something becomes the more it starts to suck... happens with pretty much anything. Writers become more aware of what readers think and they lose the spark they began with.

Also it's one thing to have one idea, or even a few, become a sensation. It's another thing to sustain that sensation.

So I understand why jalopnik sucks now. Same reason everything else does. But hey, that opens up a slot for a new guy

Never really used Jalopnik, but I feel a lot of people/websites eventually start to think of their users more as clicks instead of fans.

Half of the garbage they post these days isn't even about cars.

You're like a year or two late to that conclusion OP. Jalopnik is now all about clicks, not cars.

Jalopnik ... how the funny guys have fallen.

OK, got a little rant. I used to really enjoy reading Jalopnik every day, they had clever articles and a great grassroots feel.

Now it's just blah ... like whiny hipster mayonnaise. Click-bait mania coupled by desperate counter-point articles that are trying too hard to be edgy. Every once in a while there's a genuinely great article (usually enthusiast-submitted).

So long Jalopnik, you were fun while it lasted.
Working...
