I plan to get a proper IS lip some day, but for now, yes, it's a Volvo lip lol.

Good on you for going out on your own time and helping those people out. That's awesome, and I'm sure every single person appreciated the hell out of it [emoji108]

        Flyboyx,

Great and brave action on your part, inspiring stuff.

How are your cars and property?

Any idea on the Katy area? I have a cousin out there, heard everyone is fine but I can't imagine the clean-up and impact for people going forward.

Take care and thanks for your work!!

thank you for asking. i had originally made a post in the nonsense thread. i will just repost it here.

thank you for asking. we have two houses. one in kingwood and the other is south of kemah a little ways. we live full time in kingwood and are about 1/4 mile from the san jacinto river. fortunately we are probably 15 to 20 feet above the flood plain here.

our house on the south side of town is actually on dickinson bayou. when i built it, i spent about 6 grand on 300 loads of dirt that i piled up under the foundation. that was fortunate because water came up to about 4 feet from the bottom of the garage slab. most of the homes in the neighborhood flooded but ours did not.

here is a pic the neighbor sent of the home 2 down from ours also on the water. this one is on pilings about 7 feet above ground level.

this is a house we used to own as a rental in a neighborhood about 6 miles north. it has about 3" of water running through it in this photo. fortunately, we sold it 4 years ago.

earlier today my wife and i tried to drive the f350 downtown to help with evacuations. unfortunately. all the roads are so flooded out, they were completely impassable. after about 2 hours of trying different routes, we had to give up and return home. i do have to say that it is indeed as bad as the news shows.

to all the other r3ver's from houston, god be with you. i hope you are as lucky as my wife and i have been.

It's so crazy down there - my aunt and uncle's house is in Houston - but they luckily are higher elevation, so above the flood waters for now.

The recovery is going to be a biatch too - so much mold and bugs. That water I hear is just nasty.

Not to take away from the human turmoil, but I am sure there is going to be a huge amount of flood damaged vehicles after this. Those are some decently funded parts of the city it seems getting hit, and I am sure more than a few nice cars are inundated right now.

i just went out for a drive and noticed that homes on the western edge of my neighborhood in kingwood are starting to flood. i'm still perhaps 10 feet above this level and not worried for my property.

my wife's home that we sold when we got married has flooded. it is about 3 miles away from us.

Quick Thinking And Garden Blocks Saved This Guy's BMW X5 And E36 M3s From Harvey

It’s common sense to move your valuables to higher ground when floods threaten your home, however, we’re not sure jack stands, garden blocks and a trailer are what they mean. Regardless, one Texas man had the foresight to raise his two BMW E36 M3s and one BMW X5 just enough to stand above the floods brought by Hurricane Harvey.

And most those flooded cars are gonna get sold at auctions "fixed" and sent up north to some unsuspecting schmuck. Happened after Katrina hit and a friend of mine was one of those schmucks.

So don't buy a used one. The new cars will be much more difficult to title wash. The manufacturers don't want flooded cars being sold by dealers with warranty.

Used cars, sure. They are already easy to title wash.

If you knew what goes on at dealerships with "new" cars that you purchase with a few miles on the odometer, you'd be shocked.

There's a girl at my office who worked at a dealer a few years ago. I can't recall the exact model of Chevrolet, but it was a higher end one that was worth quite a bit (Vett, or something similar). Someone wrecked it on a test drive shortly after it was cleaned after being delivered to the dealership. Sure enough, the same car was back on the lot a couple of weeks later being sold as "new". And since the incident was never reported to insurance, it would never show up on a Carfax report.

                                ...just sayin'
If it's got tits or tires, it's gonna cost ya!
