Not that I would wish it on anyone, but hopefully it goes up the east coast instead of coming back in and finishing off Houston.

My grandpa lives in vidor, 20ish miles east of Beaumont. This is his house :/

He's got one of the highest houses in his neighborhood, and he's flooded half way up the first floor. He made it out safely before it flooded which is the most important thing.

Yeah man if this happens to Houston again it's gonna be a travesty that city cannot handle right now.

Yeah, it sucks that all the old family photos were lost, but it only really matters that he's safe.

Last I heard, that bastard out in the ocean is supposed to go up the east coast, but that was just a guess after it hits land near Puerto Rico or possibly Haiti

About an hour ago, the model showed it heading up the West coast of Florida. That means-god forbid, the entire pan handle of florida will get the dirty side of the storm. It's probably the worst case senario. If the eye and the clean side stay over the gulf, it will keep the storm fueled.sigpic

Don't mess with Texas. I'm guessing they were probably new to the state..

But seriously, my aunt was sending me similar photos around her part of town where the streets looked like the remnants of a building demo. Just piles of everything that can attract mold.

Irma's a nasty one, highly organized and some serious winds. The Virgin Islands and others in the area are about to get flattened tonight. I'm hoping it at least weakens substantially if it's going to roll through here, as it stands the damage would be Andrew-tier if not worse.Comment

Lol thats how it is here. Shoot first ask questions later. I'm starting to be glad i live in the middle of the US. Hurricanes down south and possibly east and wild fires out west but nice and calm here.Comment

Same. I live relatively near the coast (NJ) but hurricanes are generally pretty tame here, relatively speaking. Minor power outages and some limbs or trees is usually the worst of it. My uncle + family lives just north of Houston (Humble), and my dad's cousin + family live in the Columbia Gorge just a bit west of where the fires are, and have most likely been forced to evacuate at this point from what I've been reading. I checked some flood maps, and it looks like my uncle may have avoided serious damage, not entirely sure, but I'm quite concerned for my family in OR. Seems like there is a very real chance that they will lose their homes to the fire.

It's not perfect, but NJ looks pretty nice right now.Comment
