      The sensor absorbs light... So It only makes sense that a light emitting object would take much less time to burn into the image than say, a human.

          And as we've learned from the educational show on BBC, "look around you", humans emit much less light than your average light source.

            the light saturates the image much faster than the background, and much much much faster than the moving person. The light is moved purposely to create that design. That light painting is fantastically organized and well executed, but any nucklehead with a flashlight and a camera that can do long exposure pictures (longer than 1 second) can do this.



            Notice that you can see the guy behind the lights in the final image but he is very blurry. If you remove more ambient light and do a longer exposure, then he will fade away into the background.
