Thought I'd gone to the Huffington Post by mistake. Seriously, the fact that all this Gov't intervention seems normal is a sad indicator of how far we've sunk.

The EPA part alone; your gasoline is taxed at astronomical rates, gov't subsidized ethanol blended-in to ruin you classic car and starve Mexican peasants, under the guise of reducing mythical greenhouse gases, but really just to support the bloated bureaucracy and their pensions.
If you really want to get a handle on the "soft despotism" of socialism, read some Mark Steyn, he's been there and done that.
