Woman victim of second 'spooky' accident

NEW YORK, Oct. 13 (UPI) -- A New York woman who was critically injured during the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade lost her home this week when a small plane hit the building.
Kathleen Caronna was on her way home when the plane belonging to Yankees pitcher Cory Lidle crashed into the Belaire, an apartment tower on East 72nd Street in Manhattan, the New York Daily News reported. The engine was found a few feet from her bed.
Caronna suffered a fractured skull in 1997 when the handlers lost control of a Cat in the Hat balloon and she was hit by part of a metal streetlight. She spent days in a coma.
"How do you go through two major things like this?" her sister-in-law, Lisa Brown, asked. "It's spooky. It's very spooky."
Lidle and his flight instructor died in the crash. No one else was seriously injured.
Caronna's mother told the Daily News that the apartment, which Caronna shared with her husband and 9-year-old son, was gutted by the crash.

            Ok, I'll explain.

How often do you hear of parade balloons hurting someone?

How often do you hear of airplanes crashing into buildings accidentally?

What are the odds of both very rare occurances happening to the same person?

I was born and lived in Manhattan until I was 15. I never had anything happen to me remotely like one of these events nor do I know anyone that did.

One is rare both are dare I say it? "spooky"

I remember, seeing hearing about that streetlight... That must've sucked big time. As does a plane landing in your residence.

it sucks but its not spooky. just bad luck imho.

it'd be spooky if it was the same event two or three times.

you wanna hear spooky then listen to this. my friend wrecked his car on friday night (hit a tree), and the next night i wrecked my car (hit a telephone pole), and the next night my other friend got in a 4wheeler accident cracking a collar bone. all in the same weekend, all to three good friends that were all hanging out on friday night when this all started. kinda spooky but more of unfortunate series of events.

still sucks for that lady though.

Three events caused by three different sets of cirmstances to three different individuals who may or may not have been driving irresponsibly (seeing as all are driving related) = no corralation between these events except that you know all three.

Two highly improbable events happening to the same person that is in no way shape nor form involved in the actions/events/behavior (she went to a parade not exactly thrill seeker behavior and lived in an apartment again not so odd)is very very bad luck at best and somehow "spooky" at worst.

The fact that she had a lamp post fall on her and lived and that she was not home and lived is good luck.
