The leash law is not stupid, it's there for a good reason. It's VERY possible that if you took a hard enough spill, that your straps might not just release, they could break or separate from the housing somehow. I've heard of people on the mountain here who have hit so hard landing jumps and ate shit that they actually broke out of their bindings, and people have sheared the bolts that mount the bindings to the board. If that board let loose from your feet, it would fly down the run like a missle and could very easily kill someone. It can't really be THAT much of an inconvenience to mount a leash to your board, lace a metal ring in with your boot laces, and snap it to the boot that you always leave strapped in.

josh, if yoru leash is connected to yoru binding, which it is, even if it did shear off your board is going to go shooting downhill anyway. the leash is connected to the binding not the board. i'm not complaning persay, more like bringing up a point it's stupid, kinda like the no euro plate law

In the unlikely event that your binding screws DO shear on the binding that your leash is attached to, then yes, your board would fly down the run at Mach III and decapitate some kid who's never seen snow before, vactationing with his family. But it is far more likely that you can eat shit hard enough to come out of your bindings, I've seen it happen.

I know about why the law exists, and Ive seen bindings bust, but never had or seen all 4 straps blow off, or the screws sheer off for that matter. I still dislike the rule.

                  Velcro FTW!!

BTW, just picked up some new bindings for this season, flow pro-3, and some northwave five boots. I'm happy as a pig in shit, going to keep using my salomon 450 board tho, it's AWESOME at holding it's edge, and it's wide enough to float on powder out west.

                  Keep it slideways!!

i was close to buying the flows, but i hear that in order for your boot to slip in, you have to tighten the top binding a bit, which defeats the whole purpose. im curious to see how you like them

Im running a set of Nidecker Carbon 900's. These bindings are fucking beefy, super strong, and made of carbon fiber to light weight and strength. Got em for a sick deal on ebay last year. Im a freeride only guy mostly, unless its hucking off natural terrain (the most Ive done is the waterfall at Stowe - 20 foot drop to flat). These bindings have incredible response which I like but theyre pretty harsh with little flex = not so comfy in the park.

I think flow sucks in my opinion, they arne't as responsive as the traditional bindings and they only work really good if you have the flow boots which are designed to work with them. With that said, i still ride the first gen drake f60 bindings and thritytw0 tm 2 boots. I love em

Drake f60s are a good binding.

Speaking of riding, I just saw TGR's new flick Anomaly tonight here at school on the big screen. Lets just say theres a triple backflip, 250 foot cliff huck, and some serious serious backcountry lines. Go out and see it, you wont be dissapointed.
