UK and Germany are relatively new rebuilt countries. just like the US. plus, i have no desire to visit either one.

most AF guys from what i hear don't get stationed in either place. Korea, Turkey, Iraq, and other places in the US are most likely where i would get stationed.

I'm actually active duty navy right now but I've been with the Marines my entire enlistment as a grunt corpsman. Where you get stationed is gonna depend on what rate you choose. What rate is it that you are going to enlist as? I could probably tell you some pros and cons about it. And I mean the real deal and not what the recruiters tell you. I've been on a ship while I was deployed with my Marines and personally ship life blows. The food sucks, the living conditions arent the best. Like I said, choose your rate... choose your fate. Oh and when you do enlist, make sure you get the Navy College Fund. My recruiter didnt even tell me about that shit... Good Luck.

Actually, ROTC IS in college. JROTC is in high school.
        Good luck in the Navy.
10 year Marine here. Thanks for the rides.
p.s. no shit about that "choose your rate, choose your fate" Hope you picked a good one, and got a signing bonus.

yea. ill be getting the college fund, and Montgomery GI Bill. I'll be signing up as a Corpsman also.

i didnt know ROTC was in college... but a big purpose for me joining the Navy is to go to college. if i could afford college on my own, honestly i probably wouldnt join the military.

Go to a college with ROTC now.

When you graduate you will be an officer and it your service will be better than being an enlisted. Just my ideas.

I'm honestly not sure now is the best time to enlist anyway. I'd wait until there are less people shooting at us, but then again I'm a wuss when it comes to shrapnel wounds... :-P

appreciate the advice, but one of the main reasons i'm joining the Navy is so they can pay for my school. unfortunately i don't have a lot of money.

not to mention it'd be a change, i'd get to see interesting places, go to college, and it'd be an all around good experience.

the military, as you implied, isn't your thing. im signing up as a Corpsman, so obviously going to Iraq doesn't bother me at this point in time.

I've actually considered joining various military forces many times, mainly as a gateway to the intelligence world, but it seems it's not my thing. I've know quite a few people who have been through the armed forces and for what it's worth the Navy guys always seem the happiest. Go figure. I'm sure it will be a lot of work but like you say it's an awesome experience. Good luck man!

word. Navy guys usually dont have any complaints unless they do something wrong (eg- fuck up badly).

And it seems to me, that you either have to be really stupid or really troubled to fuck up badly. Everyone makes some mistakes but you don't strike me as the really stupid type...
