I'll be perfectly honest, I love my e30, but when I wanted a nice daily driver instead of a 10mpg Jeep, I got an e46 automatic, leather, etc. If the e46 didn't ride as smooth as it did, I would have ended up going Lexus or another brand. My e30 is a blast, don't get me wrong, but I can definately reason with wanting a very comfortable daily car, with auto everything and such.

I also do landscaping for a living, hence after work I usually enjoy getting into a comfortable car, turning on the heated seats, throwing it in drive, and letting the car do everything else. At that point I am tired, and sore, and want luxury, period. Not arguing, but I can def. see reasoning for cars getting more automated.

I still think the new 3's are ugly. The sedans I like, but I hate the new coupes. Unfortunately, after my e46, BMW might loose me for daily cars if they keep producing what they have been.

Dude Japan has been biting German shit forever and its known, even expected. It shouldnt be much of a surprise. The Hoffmeister Kink was a surprise, though.

Without introducing the E39 in the mix, ( I would still choose the Lexus anyway), I would choose the LS. Lexus has got the formula down lately and are making extremly brilliant cars. Reliability of course is at the top and the build quality is excellent; my dad has two lexus', and the addition of the amount of problems they have both had is equal to= 1.

LS is the shit, and for all of you haters that don't like the auto parallel park; I mean cmon, I'm sure there isn't going to be a whole shit load of owners buying the LS and eliminating the competition just because of that option. Its an amenity yes, but imo I don't think it will be the deal-sealer.

With lexus getting the right idea with their new engines, they are going to be a very strong brand in the future.

PS: was invited to the opening house of the LS in Canada...aside from seeing the car, hordeourves (sp?) will be sweet ass!

Exactley. You could buy an E39 and bolt on a Dinan S3 kit for the price of that garbage. Old BMWs or nothing. I'm sure the new M3 will be vicious as all hell, but it'll also be fuckin painfully ugly.

Exactly. Most enthusiasts squak about how Lexus copied BMW and Mercedes, but Lexus sells more LS sedans than BMW sells 7 series or Mercedes sells S classes. I admit that Lexus styling is boring (although the new LS is pretty hot), but you can't argue with their engineering or quality. BMW and especially Mercedes have been copying Lexus since the mid-90s, and they'll continue to do so because Lexus sells a lot of cars.

The days of the true German cars like the E30 or the Mercedes W124 are gone, because BMW and Mercedes make fancy Camrys. At least BMWs still drive well--you can't say much of anything for any Mercedes except for the SL.

I'm gonna go around to the new Lexuses and put clear tape over their parking sensors. :D

On a more on topic note I still prefer the BMW. Lexus copies and basically makes their cars so proportionally perfect that they bore me. That and driving BMWs is far superior than that of a Lexus.
