LOL thanks for the comforting words, guys! haha

I know it's pretty much right there next to the desert. I could never LIVE down there, I'm only going to be down there for six months or so. I'll probably drive into LA every weekend and crash at my uncle's house (south of LA by about 40 miles) then go back during the week to work.

Unfortunately, I'm not a huge golfer.

If I can't find any family close to Indio, or family friends, I'll be living in the Best Western Date Tree Hotel in an extended stay room. From the sounds of it, rent will be 700 a month, and if I have a roommate, it'll be free for me (cause Granite gives me $350 a month to help pay for housing). So, we'll see how that works out. ;)

It's not FOR SURE yet, but if the rest of the offer is a respective pay (for southern california) I'll most likely take it.

So, are you guys saying, I'll be wishing I had A/C in Indio? LOL

It's basically Arizona, with less to do, and more expensive gas. You'll be missing a somewhat short drive to Bfest 07 by about a month. It's cinco de mayo next year.

my hometown is cathedral city, lived there for 20 years, aint shit to do. I would suggest the recycler or pennysaver to find a room to rent that would fall within your 350 rent thay the company is giving you for rent.
are you working on the ramon overpass or working on the hwy 86 upgrades? your know when its time to leave, six month should be perfect

Dont trip, well all kick it at some point. We have homies on the SoCal roster from Santa Barbara 1 1/2 hours north of me, down to South San Diego (2+ hours south). And we all see eachother at very LEAST every 4-5 months.

He's in Trabuco Canyon, CA - lives in the Coto de Caza housing development.

It's looking like, since my school's Formula SAE compeition is from the 13th to the 16th - I'll drive down around the the 6th or 7th and probably with with my uncle in Trabuco Canyon. Then after the 16th, I'll start at granite the following Monday or so - and move in that weekend. SOmething like that though.

I have eaten at In-N-Out before...and there's no doubt that that place kicks some MAJOR ass!

The recycler or pennysaver, eh, Welfare Racing? I'll look into that.

I'm working for Granite Construction at their aggregates plant. I think the deal will be I'll actually be working as a laborer for a month - to get a hold of how the unionized workers work and whatnot. From there, I'll work alongside the Plant Engineer at the Indio location, and do what he needs me to do. Although the pay isn't amazing, the fact that they give me $350 a month for housing makes up for that. I'll cut a lot of corners, and hopefully come out making enough to pay for a year of school out of pocket...or put a lot into investments. But, we'll see what happens. Not to mention, I finally get to some real world ME related experience! YES! :D

I don't think I'll be involved in any actual construction projects - but rather just the plant there in Indio. Although, they did mention I may drive to other locations around Southern California - which they said I would get to drive a company truck or get reimbursed. Given the amount of horror story rear-enders in So Cal, I'll probably take their truck and leave my car in a safe parking spot.

I'll be honest. The first thing I thought of when thinking of working in So Cal was the sweet e30 scene down there!! :pimp:

Indio is like 150 miles east of LA. Out past Palm Springs - right below the Mojave Desert Preserve, pretty much. Which, kind of explains the climate there. lol
