Oh, and the guy in the video sounds like a complete fucknut and isn't doing his cause any good by perpetuating conspiracy theory bs.
You're missing me here - inside our democracy I'm all for making changes and suggesting new policies, but do it in the way the founders of this democracy intended. I don't know how active you are in politics, but 1st and foremost, vote. I firmly believe that a persons' voter participation should be a requirement to participate in any rally. It doesn't matter who you voted for, but you should get something like a punch on your drivers license to show you voted. The only exception would be minors, since they can't vote yet. Next up, get behind a candidate. Go to the local rallies, participate in the local caucuses, go put up signs for your candidate - show your support throughout the election process. And then go vote again. If you win, cool - you were part of it. If you lose, show some class - you hear it from the mouth of the losing party all the time "....please put your support behind candidate xxx...."
I doubt our forefathers ever thought a born American would burn a flag at a rally, or that idiots like some these conspiracy theorists would act as stupid as they do. Sideshow antics are what end up on the news, not the responsible reaction to things you object to, such as a simple email to your senator.
I don't see how any of this is burying your head in the sand. I'm all for change, just some ways of showing what you want are more responsible and respectful. And out of respect for all those who have fought and died for our system of government and our land, all I'm saying is that doing it in a respectful manner has just as much impact as acting like a fool on camera and it making the associated press wire and broadcast around the world.

It's not how you handle the good times, but the faith you keep in the bad that defines you.

You can't make a law like the one you're suggesting. It goes against what the founding fathers intended.

BTW- I agree that we should participate in our political process to best affect change.

I have nothing against peaceable assembly. That is fine. Sideshow antics are what I disagree with, namely flag burning. That's a protected act, I realize that quite clearly, but I really wonder if anyone thought of flag burning when the Bill of Rights was authored. I highly doubt it.

I also know that my idea for rally participation wouldn't fly, but in my early 20's I kept hearing so many of my peers bitching about our government, but sadly they couldn't have told me who Al Gore was. It really bugged me, and that punchcard idea just came to me as I was typing. It's a little rough on the edges yet, but the WTO riots in Seattle was in the news again recently - and that was swirling in my head & the punchcard idea was the result.

I bet you like my idea to make medical costs tax deductable in order to get the government to put a leash on health care costs though.

Anyhow, I just get sick of people bitching if they didn't vote. My soon ex-wife is a staunch right winger, but if you ask her about any issue - yup, deer in the headlights. I'm not picking on the right, just using my ex for an example.

It's not how you handle the good times, but the faith you keep in the bad that defines you.

Some of the founding fathers actually believed that revolution every few decades helped keep democracy in check with its ideals.

That fact doesn't stop John Conner from being a douche.

Whoa. Politics need not even be part of this discussion.

What asshat just goes up and pulls this shit while someone is eating their lunch like that? Absent the camera, I bet Bonaduce slugs the guy in the face. I know I would have . . .

Danny bonaduce can be an ass hat - but I love his style. If you were about to go on stage in the "green room" and someone pulled that shit, I'd do the same.

I don't know. He's not that funny?(true) Jealous?(maybe) Your guess is as good as mine.

I do like his stick about respecting the "office of the president of the united states" - that I agree with.

I just like how he(DB) handles people. When was the last time you met someone so honest?
