    DVD backup software???

I like to make backup copies of DVDs I have in case the originals get ruined.

I used to use dvd43 in conjunction with 1ClickDVDCopy, but it seems that more often than not, I get all kinds of errors. I have upgraded to the latest dvd43, so it shouldn't be an encryption issue.

What is a good and preferably inexpensive program that is readily available that should help me copy DVDs. I have Dual DVD burners in my desktop, so it should be capable of working off of 2 drives.

    Thanks for any suggestions.

I use DVD shrink. It is free and I have yet to make a coaster. Here is the link:

Download DVD Shrink 3.2.0.15 - Easily back up content of media DVD with powerful compression to reduce size, manage subtitles, and burn back to disk whenever ready

clonedvd is what I use. It does a lot of things.. Like copying to .iso (so I don't waste a disc and I can use something like daemon tools to watch on the laptop or use my cable to hook it up to the tv).

Very nice software with one click to burn or do anything.

I've been busy with this all day... due to some new copy protection crap DVD shrink wouldn't work right.

i found anydvd to work in conjunction with DVD shrink, first you load up anydvd and then use DVD shrink as normal and it bypasses the newer copy protections... anydvd is only a 21 day trial tho...

DaVinci Code is giving me fits - I am starting also to wonder if one of my drives is going haywire - its not wanting to read or write at times . . .

dvd43 usually gets past the copy protection.

Sorry, I left that tiny piece of the puzzle out.

I've been "backing up" DVDs to give to my neice and nephew for probably 3 or 4 years now. DVDshrink has worked pretty much flawlessly with every DVD I've come across until recently. I believe Sony's dvds have a new form of copy protection that DVDshrink can't read.

Anyway, I did a little research on how to bypass the copy protection and these programs were recommended. So far they've successfully read and copied any DVD that failed with DVDshrink.

                          RipIt4Me
                          (requires DVD Decrypter and FixVTS)

Download the 3 programs. Install DVD Decrypter. Put RipIt4Me.exe and FixVTS.exe into same folder/location. Insert DVD movie. Launch RipIt4Me.exe.

After I launch RipIt4Me I just click "Wizard Mode", then select the Target Directory. Rip Settings "Full DVD".

Click next and then press ok when prompted, then click Decrypt DVD button when it's available. Really easy.

After movie is ripped to hard drive I open up the files with DVD Shrink and Re-author like normal to cut out shit I don't want (like any French language crap).

I used to burn with Nero but now I prefer CloneDVD2 especially for DVD+R Dual Layer discs.
