Let us know how your KYB struts work out.
OEM = Original Equipment Manufacturer. This is the manufacturer of the original equipment installed on the vehicle, whoever the manufacturer chooses for that particular part.
Many people dread going to a little garage, where there may not even be a clean wall to lean against while you wait.
That said, I've never, ever, takin a car to a dealer. The only reason my car's see a garage is alignments and inspections.

From my experience, and I dont take my cars to shops that often, its often worth taking a car to the dealer unless youve found a mechanic who you trust completely. At the dealer the technicians are trained for the specific car you own, as opposed to a mom and pop shop where its a crapshoot. When I was younger I got hosed a couple times bringing it to a cheap place and they couldnt diagnose the problem correctly. I just pissed my money away on things that didnt needed to be fixed until they got it right.Back to my roots

Sure, because KYB IS the OEM manufacturer of the part. No, he doesn't have them in a KYB Box with KYB labels.
TOYOTA (LEXUS) DOES NOT MAKE ITS OWN SHOCKS AND STRUTS!!!!!!!!!!
When I went to replace the shocks and struts on my wife's Sienna, I got the KYBs after some careful research, and talking to a guy at Toyota NA HQ (which is about 10 minutes from my house - here in KY) and confirmed that in fact the OE part was the same as the KYB GR-2.
Really the likely other option is that they are Tokico.
Come to Kentucky - when they built the Toyota plant here, all of a sudden we had plants for Clarion, Tokico, and a bunch of other Japnese component parts makers.
Even us dumb hillbillies can figger dat one out!!!!Current Cars2014 M235i2009 R56 Cooper S1998 M31997 M3

I've gone there for warranty items and to buy parts (an air filter, lug nuts- to replace the damned locking ones, and touch up paint.) Believe you me, when its my nickel paying for the work, it'll be my ass in the garage doing it.Current Cars2014 M235i2009 R56 Cooper S1998 M31997 M3

I am no fan of the dealer, however look at it thsi way. Lawyer buys Lexus and needs to have it serviced. Lawyer bills out 400 an hour or spend a day swapping his struts. No what makes sense.
I like to work on my cars new and old so I would enjoy. I usually do not bill out 400 an hour as well.
