Sorry Luke - blunt speaks tha' truth - espresso based coffee is where it's at.
I keep a coffee maker, but it's rarely used.
I either French press, or do an Americano if I want waterbased drink. However, French press is only good if you are constipated and can plan toilet telemetry for ~3 hours after drinking.
Cappa's are the real deal, or espresso straight up, with a few grains of sugar.
The only flavors I keep are vanilla & carmel, but only for use when the Peet's is getting a little old.
Favorites:
Peet's , Vivace , Intelligentsia.
Seriously Luke - next time you get to Seattle, stop at either Vivace location for a Cappucinio. It might change your mind, and Schomer (owner) is accreditted with being the premier mind on proper prep here in USA. And the latte art is 2nd to none.

Popcorn popper or purpose built roaster?
-Been toying with the idea myself, but the last thing I need is another hobby with a learning curve.
You on coffeegeek.com? Seems like a lot of roasting talk there. Main reason I been interested in trying, then I do reality check and call Vivace and order some.
