Greatest president of our country - and why?

    O.K.

Since there is a political debate going, let's throw this one out there-

Who was the greatest president ever of our country and why?

I don't care if you go left or right - but stick to facts why you like a particular president. Might be interesting to see if anyone even responds.

It's not how you handle the good times, but the faith you keep in the bad that defines you.

For a lot of people, this is going to be hard since most have only seen 3-4 presidents in office, and even less that actually affected them.

Valid point. The thread will no doubt be heavily biased towards the most recent presidents, however, if you really wanted to go back, I'd have to pick someone else, obviously. I'd need to look into the economic crashes and wars and who brought the country through them above where we were when we got into them. Honestly, I couldn't list one if I tried though. Certainly one between WWI and Vietnam, a LOT of shit happened between those times, but so did a lot of presidents go through office. :)

You've been reading my other posts, haven't you?

I'm a FDR fan myself. For many reasons, mostly his handling of Stalin. Obviously none of us were there, but he was a smart feller, especially since his health was going when he dealt with the whole thing. I might have my timing off, but it was close there.

To be honest, I can't believe ya'll ain't over hitting on the new girl. I expected this to go ghosttown when she popped up.

Doesn't matter, she won't last, they never do. Even the ones who say they're going to hang around, they always disappear.

I managed to pick one up off a DSM board once. We've been dating on and off since, and yes she did stop reading the forum. I think something about car forums tends to make them predominantly male. Forum culture is an interesting thing, we could have an entire thread on it really...

Anyway, I would say that one of our greatest presidents was Eisenhower, he had the vision to push the interstate system through, that has made our country more mobile than almost any other in the world.

Teddy Roosevelt is my favorite president.
FDR was the best president IMO.

Forum Culture? A thread? Are you serious? Thats what "Off Topic" *IS* :) There's a whole forum about it. That, and threads always get off topic anyway, and thats part of the whole point!
