    EURO lowrider VW bug

just thought I would post a link to the vid from a friends car that I did a majority(85%) of the build on. It has 4 competition pumps, 20 batteries- built to run 60 volts. In the video it is only running 36 volts to keep from too much damage to the motors. took over 5 weeks of pure work this last summer to build.

This is what some of my hobbies are here in Germany. hate it if you will, but it is always a great party after the shows!!

    enjoy if you would like.

its supposed to roll. thats why there are roll bars coming out of the sides. It rolls on its roof with 2 flicks of the switch at 60 volts. dont have it on film though.
here are a couple more links of it:
these are at the ESSEN MOTORSHOW- the largest tuning/car show of germany--- equal to the SEMA show of the U.S. on a euro level.

Cool, is it still a rear wheel drive ?
Do you use chains for transmision, or it just doesn't run ?

BTW it wouldn't be too difficult to make it radio controlled, it would give the operator more freedom for movement. ;)

What year is it? Late 60's? I think it should've had an IRS rear then? What's the driveline now?

no driveline in it anymore. it is a mid 80s piece of crap. We have made plenty of wireless remoted for other cars, but the cable is much more reliable, and alot more exact on the times of the switches.
its supposed to roll over on its side.

That's awesome, I wonder if I could do that with my dads volvo lol.

How long does a shell last with that sort of abuse, surely it stresses the chassis to breaking point?

I imagine this thing will last about a year or so, depending on the beating it gets. Yep, it needs new welding and repairs quite often when it gets used alot. It is a complete frame that is built into the car now.

I dont understand. You cant drive it. You just make it jump around to the music? That doesnt seem like much fun.

I can appreciate a bagged truck or lowriders in general, but hopping makes no sense to me.

Toward the end of the video, when the right rear tire kicks out, it reminds me of elaine's dancing on seinfeld.. hahaah

Good workmanship otherwise. I definitely could not do something like that!. nice job!
