How much longer will fossil fuels be the standard?

Hydrogen is a no workie, metals become brittle when filled up with liquid hydrogen, the energy producing capabilities is 1/4 of fossil fuels, and to produce it, it uses a lot of energy, you have to make it, compress it to liquid form, then store it, and you would need your hole garage as a hydrogen generating plant. It's decades away. ;)

There will be no gas, because the small weinered rednecks are now saying that they need f650s because f350s are too small.
I have actually seen a few of these sad vehicles locally. What did people do 80 years ago when we didn't have F650s? Did they live horrible unfulfilled lives, since the f650 owners seem to think they are a necessity.sigpic

Hate to admit, but I love 650's myself. That 1st one is downright crazy though, hard to see what intended use could be, def not a work truck. I wouldn't ever own one though. Waaaay more than I need, and if I needed it I'd rent one for a week or whatever.
I just wonder what the demand will be for collectible cars once the mainstream fuel used isn't compatible with them. I can see where cars might be the last thing to change, but I think that the change might happen in our lifes. Not anytime soon - but if we all live another 60 years then we will have lived through nearly 1/2 the span that cars have existed.
I guess since I heard the fact that within our lives the oceans will quite possibly be stripped bare of fish due to the fishing practice where they drag the ocean floor with big nets(mostly Japanese practice), it made me wonder what life would be like in say - 2045. It was stated that it might be reality that our generation's children might not eat fish, because they could be extinct or hopelessly endangered. I hardly call myself an enviromentalist, but this idea blew my mind.
It's not how you handle the good times, but the faith you keep in the bad that defines you.

Mehh. Not MYYY problem. I do my part by owning more than one car, one of which is a V-12.
I also run baby seal oil as power steering fluid.
AH-HAHAHAHAHA.
I'm a Republican. I take the view that eventually, we'll knock ourselves into an ice age, which will kill off a whole bunch of people, thereby making the pollution issue moot and reducing our dependance on fossil fuels. Problem solved.
Seriously:
Isn't an F650 a diesel truck? Diesel fuel can be made out of used vegetable oil, which is a VERY renewable resource. No danger of running out of that soon.
Ethanol can be used in most gas engines, and eventually they'll develop additives to run it almost directly with no ill effects on most cars.
Synthetic lubricants will replace fossil-based lubricants, that's already happening.
Plastic is a problem, because that's based on petro-chemicals, but silicon and cellulose based polymers are being developed which will solve even that problem.
Eventually technology will progress to the point where we don't need Fossil Fuels...not soon, but some day.
And none of that electric car BS either. When I step on the pedal I want to hear...VRROOOOOOOOMMM.
Extinct species? Cloning! Bring back the frigging dinosaurs, kill 'em off en masse and compress 'em down into oil again...see? Technology FTW!

Nobody buys them for towing anyways (except maybe the one with the fountain boat attached). It's the DD of a local Starbucks owner in my hometown.
