my guess is it only works on a car like a tercel with the super light locking mechanisms. e30's locks are too stiff.

That is really cool, they I doubt that would work with a mechanical locking system.

                this again?
this would prolly only work on vacuum locks....if that. It's really easy to do if you have a buddy off camera pushing the keyless entry unlock button when you hit the tennis ball!

I can't see how this would work on any vw mk3 with vacuum operated locks... I'm also confident that vw hasn't changed the locking mechanisms much for its successors.

The lock cylinder assembly is completely seperate from the vacuum mechanism. A rod with a paddle is attached to the end of the lock cylinder which then turns the locking mechanism in the vacuum module. The module then unlocks/locks the doors. These rods are known to break and they have been replacing them with a stronger casting.

Even if air could be forced through the cylinder and tumblers it still doesn't make sense. I didn't even know it was possible for air to enter the vacuum switch.

that's why I said prolly. I dont know much about vacuum locks but it seemed for feasible to work on then then regular locks :D

but I call the BS flag on this anyway

Is this because only blondes would lock the keys in their car, or because only blondes would try this? Maybe because only blondes would carry a tennis ball in their purse as a blonde-moment insurance policy.
