    TV censorship cracks me up

So my wife is gone today doing some Girl Scout event, I'm home with the kid, she's taking a nap, and I'm watching Casino on USA. I'm putting up with the standard dub of silly words like "freakin" in place of "fucking" and so forth, when it gets to the scene where after Sam has said in an interview that he's the boss of the Tangiers, Country Commision Ward is talking to the 2 guys at the gaming comission office, and asking them if Sam has even filed for his gamin license. The 2 guys say they don't know and they'll have to check.

Now in the movie (unedited), Ward says "And can you check kinda closely? Because we might have to kick a kike's ass outta town."

In the edited USA version, Ward says "And can you check kinda closely? Because we might have to kick a kike's *butt* outta town."

Now this doesn't make me mad, quite the opposite in fact, I just about died laughing. They can say "kike" on TV, but they can't say "ass"?

Ah the ridiculous nature of what is acceptable and what isn't. I'm a fairly conservative guy politically but I can't believe that the FCC under it's current leadership is as draconian as it is. SAD.

I hate all the PC BS that goes on in this world. Apparently it is offensive to use the word "Oriental" now...

That's kiind of retarded that they censored "ass" because if you watch "That 70s show", they say "ass" more times than you can count.

The best one those is when Sam's wife is flipping out, and in the real version says something to the effect of "Fuck you Sam Rothstein..." Edited version is Freak you....etc. HAHAH I always found it kinda funny picturing someone infuriated saying freak you!

A real conservative guy I used to work with said frick instead of fuck. He would always get pissed and say "what the frick", or "frick you". I was unable to contain my laughter.

Still funny as balls, though. Generally, I'm 100% against watching R-rated movies on TV, and while I do own the DVD, I was too lazy to get off my ass and put it in.

My personal fave was while I was watching the movie "Old School." There's a scene where will ferrel's character is supposed to say "cock. balls." the edited for tv version says "cotton balls." I l'd mao.

I laughed today while listening to "NIN - Closer". They edited the first "fuck you like an animal" but not the rest.

                            The Big Lebowski

Real version: "You see what happens when you fuck a stranger in the ass?"

TV version: "You see what happens when you find a stranger in the alps?"
