Dude why do you need a bmw? let alone a modded one when a kia will get you where you need to go too? No one criticizes people for turboing their cars or swapping in other motors. How would this forum react if congress passed a law that you were not allowed to modify your car in any way or prohibited you from a certain amount of hp? Its the same fucking concept.

I saw it on futureweapons. was pretty awesome. the round they used in the .50 cal was called the "416" which stood for .416 caliber. those is uses the same powder cartridge as the 50 cal. this enables it to shoot much much farther than a standard 50 cal because the bullet is lighter, but not too light.Originally posted by FusionIf a car is the epitome of freedom, than an electric car is house arrest with your wife titty fucking your next door neighbor.

I understand the need for self protection. Any small hand gun or 12 gauge will do the job. But is the firepower of an M16 really needed? It has a bullet about the diameter of your usual 22 rifle (well a bit longer and sharper) but perhaps 10 times more black powder. Imagine the force of the bullet. I am no democrat or republican, but I guess that the reason of the stricter control is to avoid that once-legitimate weapons end up one day being used by unscrupulous persons.
Interestingly, nobody likes having other peoples dictate you what to do or not to do. It is very natural to get upset by that. But how does owning an assault rifle can make our life more enjoyable? When I was younger, I used to do target shooting and enjoyed it a lot. A simple 22 rifle can do the job. No need for a .222, which was not designed for precision anyway, to do that. But it looks like if the senate voted for a ban of cliff jumping (lemming style) there would always be some people claiming it is their right to jump the cliff and kill themself. Every restriction calls for defiance. Very human.sigpicFormer professional wrench thrower.

.416 isn't exactly new news, look @ the date in the postings.
Gotta love how they're cramming back down the Dem's in CA though.Last edited by LINUS; 02-14-2007, 08:23 PM.

Sorry Lee, but rule #2 is clearly stating why I need to keep over 50 rounds loaded for all weapons on property. It's easier to keep 2 25 rounders than 5 10 rounders.Last edited by LINUS; 02-14-2007, 08:49 PM.

Don't bother with Lee, he's Canadian. They get invaded, they know we would come to the rescue. Sorry Lee, but you know it's the truth. We couldn't stand to have a threat so close, and you guys bank on that with the appearant lack of presence in military capability. What you guys spend on military is less than the public school lunch program in Los Angeles county. Really.

I mean.... they give cars to people in South Florida. That alone kills so much more than any gun available right now.Erick Mahle | FullOpp Drift | YouTube

shit..
i knew there was a reason why i didn't entirely like dems. (could never entirely like republicans either)
whatever the case - i never thought i'd be a 'gun guy'. I really don't like how they're associated with violence.
.. then my uncle passed away and I inherited two from his collection.
One is a long barrel, skeet shooting, shot gun that I haven't gotten around to firing yet. (~3 yrs)
The other was a short-barrel Bersa .380. it was forlorn and corroding in its holster upon my possession. It presented itself as a great refurbishing project.. and refurbishing projects make my world go ‘round.
My family actually took turns selecting from the collection. I confess some of attraction I felt to this piece was it’s resemblance to Bond’s PPK. (i.e. compact, short-round 9mil, semi-auto handgun)
After some research, it turned out, (in the ‘gun world’) that the Bersa .380 was an extremely comparable pistol to Bond’s piece. (with a lower reputation for jamming)
Great – cool, whatever – first I needed to learn how to ‘refurbish’ it. This was too easy. It’s remarkable to see how guns are engineered. It was too fun and too easy to take it apart, de-corrode, put through blueing process, and re-assemble. When it was done, I purchased a box of .380s, some ear-plugs, and set up a target at which to fire at.
One is likely to find that compact, short-barrel, short-round, 9 mils are not accurate.
.. but holy shit are they fun to occasionally pop off.
Some buddies and I got together one time at this quarry-shooting-range-type place with boxes and boxes of various rounds for our various hardware. One guy shared a .45.. It was sooo Dirty Harry. You’d just relax yourself, pull the trigger, and the damn thing went “BOOM” in your hands.. it was so oddly satisfying..
Another guy has some alien-style .22 auto pistol with some crazy clip in it. One could pop off .22 rounds all day long and not spend much. (bigger caliber = more $)
In any event, I respect guns like the tools in my chest. They deserve respect. I enjoy having a collection of ‘instruments’ that deserve respect. I vow to maintain them and use them appropriately.
I sincerely and truly hope that I never feel that I * need * a gun. It would be a sad day.
Nutshell: I disapprove of governmental policies which attempt to protect people “from themselves”.Comment

The reason is really clear, we live in a free America where our forefathers set rules to say we can. It is one of the reasons that no other country has or will ever attack us via land attack. (Sucks to fight a war where every house has a gun). And not many can own a M16. M16's are full auto weapons. There are ways to own them but very hard. I collect military weapons and I enjoy shooting them. I have never shot a person not intend to but can if I have to. Its a way to slowly take away our freedoms and with a disarmed public its easier for one to take over. Its really simple. Guns do kill people, but it takes a person to pull the trigger. I can kill more with my car than you can with an assault gun. But because people are afraid of guns it makes the news every time someone takes out 2 or 3 people with one. People need to understand that and get over it. Live free or die!

one of the best projectiles is the 22cal. It is more accurate than any other weapon out there. The 223 is a 22 but with more kick. Same dia. Sure the 22cal is not that strong in taking out bears but neither is the 223. The 223 was built not to kill but to injure the other. In a war America thought it would be better to wound someone and have his boy pick him up for help. That takes 2 people out of the fight. Your info is way off and if your hiking with an AK your looking for problems if a ranger shows up. A M4 is a profile of the barrel of the rife (m16 or Ar15) nothing more. And all assult weapons are not cheap, I own some that are more than 99% of the cars on this forum!
Originally posted by robbieostermanDifferent guns for different purposes. A .22 isn't a very accurate cartridge, and is very small, they are known to literally bounce off a Grizzley bear's skull. An M4 (or M16) uses a .223 caliber cartridge which is EXTREMELY accurate.. I don't know where you got your information that it's not ... but, the accurate range on one of those is 500+ yards.
I personally own and frequently use an AK47 for hiking protection when I'm on trails in the mountains that are known for mountain lions and large bears. A .22 isn't going to suffice if a large animal is trying to take me down, sorry. There are plenty of reasons to own an assault rifle, they're cheap, lightweight, and effective.Build your own dreams, or someone else will hire you to build theirs!

(The gun guys never seem to know this part of the amendment.)
What well-regulated militia are you are part of?
I'd say the highly conservative gun lobby is the one trying to shape the constitution for the sake of their industry...a bunch of guys with guns does not a well-regulated militia make.Comment

I know that by heart but what is a militia in your words? And trust me its not about making money, its about staying free.

–noun
1. a body of citizens enrolled for military service, and called out periodically for drill but serving full time only in emergencies.
2. a body of citizen soldiers as distinguished from professional soldiers.
3. all able-bodied males considered by law eligible for military service.
4. a body of citizens organized in a paramilitary group and typically regarding themselves as defenders of individual rights against the presumed interference of the federal government.
Looks like #4 fits everyone that is legal here in the USA! Thats if you have balls to stand and fight for your rights!
....a well-regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state....
