But situtations like this is the reason why I never conspired with more than one or two people. I figure that if one guy is facing the rap for all of us, we should all go down with him. But in some of the scam arrangments that I got involved with we agreed that if anyone asks any questions, we don't know anything.

By the way, how does that gift card scam work? I see people on the street all the time selling full value gift cards for half the price. I would think that at the end of the day, someone would be trying to account for the missing money and either go after the employee who rang up the card(s) in question or they would just flat out deactivate them.

One thing that scares me about those gift cards is that I am afraid that if I use one, it will be on the day that some sort of sting operation is going on at the store. And as soon as my card is swiped, they will get on the loud speaker and say, "I NEED A MANAGER AT REGISTER 7!" And while I am waiting for the problem to be resolved, the authorities are comming to get me.

yeah well when someone came up to us with no clue of how much money was on the gift card, they would ask, and i would scan that shit, see that there is 25 dollars on the card, then kindly inform them that there was no money on the card, and dispose of it. they would thank me, and then pay with some other method. then i would pocket the card, and get some food on my break.

When i was really young(10 or so) i stole a pack of Starbursts at the grocery store. When we got home my mom asked where I got them cause she didn't buy them for me. She made me return the half eaten pack back to the store and apologize to the manager. Dont remember much about it.

Then theres the music/videos, and the occasional part at the pickapart.

In vo-tech (last year of high school), the school offered us a complete set of Microsoft books. They overstocked on them and weren't going to use them next year, so they gave them to us for $15. I bought 2 sets.

Barnes and Nobles sells this set, so I took one set and I went in and told the clerk they were bought as a gift and I'd like to return them, but I wasn't given a receipt. They gave me a store credit card and put $398 on it.

I listed this on ebay for $380 (which I would have gotten) until the school called me and several other people into a room one day. Three administrators began screaming at us and telling us we were getting expelled, B&N was pressing charges and we would have felonies, etc... turns out several people did it, and one guy was wearing a vo-tech shirt when he did it, so they called the school to see whats up.

Nothing happened, we just had to return the cards, deal with the principle, blah blah blah. They told us we would never feel right walking into that store again. Ha, I go in like once a month.

I also sold the other set to my college, DeVry University, a year later (they buy used books) for $200.

Morally I don't consider that your stereotypical "stealing", either way B&N gets a book out of the deal, they are gonna buy the book anyways. I'm not condoning it, its still wrong, but I don't think its as bad as like stealing that same book out of their store.

I did a similar thing, I bought a logitech xbox controller online and it was broken when I got it, instead of RMAing it and having to pay to ship it back and wait for a new one, I just went to target and bought one, opened it up and swapped controllers, then returned it as broken.

I dunno, either way logitech put out a broken controller and its going back to them, and I am sure Target gets a refund or some sort if they have to send broken stuff back, thats juts how I RMA stuff lol.

I also have a lot of great ideas on how to steal expensive shit and never get caught, but its wrong so I don't do it. If anyone wants some killer ideas let me know I don't mind telling you how to steal :)

When I was like 8 my friends thought it was cool to steal the metal air caps off cars and put them on our bikes, (yeah I was one of "those" kids who would "fall" by your car lol), we did it for a while until we were trying to get some off a semi truck when some lady saw us.

She yelled at us and told us to come with her, and we were little and stupid so we did and we didn't run. Anyways she called the cops and they came and yelled at us, then made our parents pick us up. I never stole those again lol

Otherwise I give away free food at work, and receive free food from other people at other jobs. Or I just do the whole bitch out the employee at fast food places for making a mistake they didn't make ("Bitch forgot my big mac!") and get free food that way, I find they would rather just give me free food than have me make a scene inside or hold up the 15 cars behind me in the drive through.

Dunno if I could call it stealing (depends who you talk to at my work -- like my supervisor doesn't care), but I have a couple amps, a few tweeters, a few midranges, and a couple subs in my car that I made (all but the amps) and installed at work. Not to mention the school supplies from there. Engineering paper is expensive...

And I can point out all the music, movies (burned from the video store), and software.

I used to call that "grey market" stealing.. where the manager can't specifically allow you to have the leftover stuff but at the same time he is hoping that it will magically disappear so that he does not have to be bothered with a bunch of stuff that will pile up and clutter the shop. When I worked for the phone company I cleaned out my truck and had a bunch of stuff that was in good shape and useable but I didn't need to perform my job duties. Doing the "honest" thing, I brought it back into the dispatch building and the boss said, "WTF is that? I don't want that crap in here!" which was a nice way of saying, "Take it home and sell it on ebay and I will pretend like I didn't know you had it."
