Vx2000 is a semi-pro version of the legandary vx-1000 (the big brother of the 900, that was sold almost exclusively to the porn industry, I kid you not)

Basically the Vx-2000 is happiest in "auto" mode, and can take some good video. You really end up forcing it to try to do things that a "pro" camera would (and by pro I mean $10k and up)...

If a PD-150 is in your price range for used I would REALLY look at that first if you like the look of Sony camera. Sonys put out a very clean "video"/bluish, over sharp look to it's images cause that what sell on the show room floor. It's not really what you want, but it's what sells. With that said I am a Sony fan(for anything designed before 2005). They make(made) VERY good camera.

All depend on what you want to do with it.

I'm a welth of knowledge on the topic. I've used a vx-2000 quite a bit, and been in the "biz" off and on years and years....

    HTH....

From what I have seen and experienced, and its not a professional opinion, I would save up a little more and get the Panasonic DVX100.

Interesting.... I have several of these that I have been trying to fix and on two of them somthing appears to have shorted out the circuit board.
