Some of the transit busses in my area have those same scanner lights on top of the windshield in order to make them more visable. I just wonder how Hasselhoff's character got away with it when its not street legal to have red lights on the front of your vehicle- Oh wait.. now I remember. Its funny how back in the 70's early 80's we had an idea of what we thought technology would be like in the future. And somehow flashing lights always came into the equation as to suggest that the lights themselves is what made the computer work.

The show itself was pretty lame, however, as a kid I loved it because I really wanted to believe that a car could do all of those things. Also something on that show that was phyisically impossible was being able to drive into the back of the semi-trailer while both vehicles were moving. There is no way you can do that without the car shooting through the entire length of the trailer and out the other end.

Not as impossible as you might think. There was a stunt on Fear Factor that was like it. They had to drive a car up onto a trailer and stop within the right place to move on. A few did end up off the front of the trailer, but most hit it dead on. And it wasn't a big trailer either. Just a u-haul style car carrier.

That stunt was performed by a guy name Alain Petit in france with a Simca 1000, it was in Perpignan - France in the late seventies, it's not impossible, But he did have big bumpers (200 liter drums filled with water behind the cabin of the truck), but he didn't hit them. ;)

Now all we need is the video game called "Knight Rider vs. Airwolf" But you are right.. Airwolf and Blue Thunder.. those were good shows.

Ok.. I stand corrected. But as I recall from that stunt, it wasn't exactly a casual "drive-on" type of experience like they did with KITT. On Knight Rider they would just gracefully drive up the ramp unlike Fear Factor where there was a whole lot of skidding and foul obsenities being screamed by the contestant.

Besides it seems like that tractor trailer is ALWAYS on the road. And I would wonder where the truck was comming from when he drove in.. and where it was going when he pulled out.

Oh.. and the Hasselhof briefs? Yeah.. I got a pair too!
