I agree that we should focus more on the victims and their families than we should on the killer. But the killer will get all of the attention because everyone wants to know how, why, and what caused this to happen. Everyone wants to know what that guy was thinking and why he didnt get psychiatric counseling.
As terrible as this event was, I really have no feelings for the victims or their families because I don't know who they are nor do I know anything about the people that were close to them. I know all about the killer but I know nothing about the victims. So as much as I don't like to admit that I don't care, I think that I would care more about this story if I could find out who the victims were.
Like when 9-11 happened, every day afterwards, someone was featured on the news. Every day there were 6 to 10 stories about the people. It was not uncommon to hear a story that said, "This is a picture of Jim Tarvis. He worked on the 74th floor in tower 2. He was on the phone with his wife at the time.." But unfortunely those stories don't sell in this situation.
