    so monday came and went

Well the game warden was suprised to see us a hour early and bright eyed. so he was nice, we got all the rules read to us and he said he didnt wright us a ticket because he could tell we had no idea what was going on, Between us looking at the helicopter and my one buddy showing his kid the helicopter we probably look really retarded. End result we had to buy a fishing license and listen to this guy tell us how bad ass the fishing is and bird watching....
    so it kinda sucked. aha.
but way better than a ticket.
    c-ya guys.

So does this mean that you will be permitted to bird watch and fish in the restricted area?

So in what capacity was this guy - Dept of Fish & Wildlife (DFW)? I'm guessing so, since you mention the fishing stories. So was the worst of it the fact that you probably didn't have a pass to park in a state park, or something of that nature?

We have that up here in WA, you pay ~$12 for an annual pass to park in state parks, or they package it with your fishing / hunting license. Slick idea really, if you see passes on all the cars at a given boat launch, it means that all the boats in the water (contained bodies) at least have 1 licensed person on them each.

They hit us hard for ORV tags though, I just got a new one for my quad and it's as much as my car tabs. Does TX have the ORV tags as well, and if so was that part of the conversation?

What's the story on the chopper? Was Homeland Security / Border Patrol out already, and the guy couldn't find anything serious to get you on?

How close to the MX / TX border were you? Known drug traffic routes in the area?

C'mon man, give a better description of the deal.

It's not how you handle the good times, but the faith you keep in the bad that defines you.

Maybe the guy thought you were out there hunting without a license and when he finally put 2 and 2 together, he probably attempted to make the helicopter stop appear to be more "official" than it really needed to be. He probably didn't want to look like a total idiot so he made you buy a license and then he could justify burning up all of that gas for the helicopter trip.
