Seriously - get off your collective high horses.
NASCAR goes DTM!

Why? All the rednecks I know bash F1 blindly, having never even seen a race. I've watched NASCAR and come to an opinion that it is totally boring. Even if DTM and NASCAR have similarities, DTM is crazy and exciting!! F1 is exciting too, and so is WRC. All the SCCA stuff that Speed shows is pretty exciting. NASCAR is the only thing that makes me turn the channel when it comes on... It's like a gag reflex.'88 528e /// '88 M5 /// '89 951 /// '98 E430 /// '02 M5 -
Already been shot down. They are looking to move it to Centralia,.
I think a NASCAR track in Wa would be bad ass, a lot of revenue, plus the track would most likely be used for a ton of other events.
I watched the first race with the "COT" and they were talking about how the rear wing is hard to adjust because it is so high. During pitstops with the old spoiler the fuel guy could reach over and do the adjustments. Now he cant.. So instead of redesigning the mechanism, or doing anything remotely ingenious that say... Formula 1 might think of, crew chiefs just started getting taller guy's to do the gas, because a taller guy has longer arms and can reach over... I dunno, kind of dumb, but it made me chuckle.Originally posted by TeaguerFilling an Eta's tank with super unleaded will reach the cars maximum attainable performance level .

If it were just pre, race, and post I would probably like it.
Honestly, racing is racing. And Nascar is pretty damn high on the competition level because it is such a level field.
BUT FUCK.
I have to watch the pre show race for the pre race pre show. And then the post qualifying analysis. And then you have like the NASCAR mid week pre show for the race 2 weeks later. AHHH They jam it down your neck and it gets so annoying. Honestly, you dont need 40 different programs dedicated to nascar in one week.Originally posted by TeaguerFilling an Eta's tank with super unleaded will reach the cars maximum attainable performance level .

NASCAR is a spectator sport. It puts 40,000 to 80,000 fans in the stands. You can see all the way around the track. On road courses you see the cars every minute or so from one corner. As a spectator sport NASCAR mirrorrs the demographics of the fans. The days of rednecks in the stands and in the cars are a thing of the past. The younger drivers are from all over the country and started in go carts at about six years old. Jeff Gordon is one of the old guard. Almost 50% of the fans are women and NASCAR has done a lot of research on them. They are attracted to the drivers because they aren't macho thug types and place an importance on family. A young US driver with talent goes into NASCAR because he can make a good income. In F1 and below the driver has to bring a chunk of change in the form of sponsorship deals in his back pocket. In NASCAR the money goes to the team and they look for the best driver they can get.
Growing up on a pig farm in Pennsylvania is about as redneck as you can get but it was from there that Mario Andretti became the only driver to win the Daytona 500, Indy 500, and F1 World Driving Championship.

Yeah it's alright to watch. Only bitch i have about it is there's only 2 makes of cars, which are basically exactly the same. Gets a bit boring.
Back in the day was wicked, 1992 bathurst was EPIC. Turbo cosworth sierra's, 5 liter holden/fords, v12 jags (mega fast!), r32 gtr's, e30 m3's, the list goes on. It rained during the race, that was when the gtr's just decimated EVERYTHING - even using dry tires in the rain.. They were basically banned after that.
( for anyone who wonders what the jags were like - http://youtube.com/watch?v=c5jtf83eKGs )

Too bad, then why is it all car magazines, car programs and such test cars 0 to 60 and 1/4 mile, also, a good driver in the 1/4 mile can crush a bad one, even if there is no turning involved, specially if both cars are manual. ;)

I just love how they call them stock cars and the ones that that race cars are actually based on wouldnt beat a fucking Vtech Civic Si in "stock" form. hahahah. Im not getting into this conversation. Nascar is weaksauce. FOr many many many many reasons that have already been explored here.

Actually, there are 4 cars; Chevy, Dodge, Ford and now Toyota. I agree though, they are pretty much exactly the same. But how many ways can you build a competitive race car built for 1 purpose?Comment
