That wasn't what we were told by the XM rep that sells our units and subscriptions to our customers that purchase systems for their homes. So i'll go with whatever information I'm actually getting from them and see what happens when it actually goes through.

I have both XM and Sirius in my equinox. Sirius gets my nod for: Howard stern (I listen everyday, really the only reason I got sat radio in the first place), uncensored comedy channel, playboy channel, and most of all NFL. Quite honestly I don't listen to much of the music channels on either. I've thought about the lifetime Sirius deal a couple times, but the deal breaker is always the allowed times you can transfer the membership amongst devices, I think there is a fee too. Since I go through company cars every year or two, its made me gunshy.

oh and the merger hopes are down to 50% likelihood or less. The FCC and congress don't seem too thrilled with the idea. I'd love it, mainly because the equinox and cr-v have xm headunits that cant convert to sirius without a pnp unit on the dash

There's not a warranty on the unit itself? I find that VERY hard to believe, if it's in fact for the actual unit.
