    Detailing services

I'm planning on doing a lil detailing for people on weekends.

Im primarily targeting owners of "better" car marques; think BMW of course and well Benz, Audi , Porsche etc and say Chrysler 300's/SRTs cuase they're stately cars & these cars need to look their best.

Your feeback would be aprreciated with the following:
I wanna set it up as 3 basic package options. In terms of names for these packages i'm thinking-> "Elite , Signature & Concours". Kinda doubting "Platinum" because the word has gotten kinda tacky now or isn't it?

Question is how to rank these three package in terms of superiority best...??

    Elite / Signature / Concours

    The combo options entail:

    1. Interior , wash , clay, glaze , wax

    2. Interior, wash , clay, polish , sealant ,wax , trim detailer

    3. Interior, wash , clay, swirl, polish , glaze, sealant , wax , trim detailer

I would want to refrain from engine detailing for now. Dont wanna screw someone electronics on a Porshe lol

    Thnx for ur input

what are you gonna charge? I like your names except "Concours". maybe "classic" or "standard". No one wants to just be "standard" so you might sell more of the higher packages to people. I'd think that you would want to stay away from "basic" or "Platinum, gold, sliver" to look classier than other places.

It might be wiser to offer one price for one service regardless of what is needed. So take your best package and advertise only that. Don't do anything special. Just offer a "complete" detailing job for $xx.xx and do whatever is needed. Some cars may need the swirl marks removed while others dont. Some may require more work than others but that's OK. You are selling the value of your service more so than the service itself. That way you keep it simple. If you offer a lower price for doing everything other than swirl mark removal, your customer is not going to remember that he opted out of that service for a cheaper price. After he leaves your shop and shows off his car to his friends, they are going to tease him about the swirl marks and how he got jipped. So I suggest that you make every car look as good as it possibly can and charge one flat fee for everyone. Repeat customers who only need a basic wash and wipedown won't mind paying the full price to keep the car maintained. They just want to feel confident that as soon as they drive it off your lot, its something that they can be proud of.

I think "standard" should be your most basic package. And I dont think it should include clay. Maybe have clay be an a la carte type thing.

Good pointers Jscotty. I could definitely benefit indeed from a well-maintained car.

You see I was thinkin that direction (head of post) cause there is like virtually no one in my area that does this "commercially" (maybe just for themselves) for others. A fixed price based on a full job may scare off some. Car washes here charge $10-$15 for a wash + interior wipedown/Armor All combo.

Im thinking round $70 for package #1

          I dunno..

I would never detail a car without claying it. Why would you cut that out anyways...it only takes like 30min.

I would do something along these lines:

            1. Basic - Wash, Clay, 1 Stage of Polish, Wax (or sealant)
            2. Signature - Basic + extra polishing as necessary, trim reconditioning
            3. Elite - Signature + 2-3 coats of wax, and maybe add something else here
            sigpic

Great idea for the package description Darkwing!

Makes it simplified & easier on the eye

elite sounds ridiculous, even elitists dont like the word. Even millionares are used to small/medium/large and get upset at medium/large/supersize.

I will admit that starbucks has millions of people asking for a venti skinny double frappamochiato no whip. So I suppose some people buy into the fancy names, but I would hazard a guess that the guy driving the ford taurus would be upsold by a name like signature/prestige before the guy driving the benz. Either offer one service, or keep it simple: Package #1,2,3,etc.

                    hmm..

Alotta wannabeezzzzz are driving around in premium cars these days, so the names will appeal to them

true. in response to jscotty's post. I took my volvo to a guy reccomended to me. He's known as "Mr Detail". I asked him for a price, and he said it depends on the condition of the car, but he quoted me 250$. I asked if he had a more reasonable, basic package, and he said if he details a car he does it right and won't do a half-job. Even though I didn't end up using him, I appreciated that way of doing business, and I'll definitely use him when I have a nicer car to be detailed. The volvo wasn't worth spending 10% of its value right before I sell it. But that way of doing business is sound.

I wouldn't use other product's logos or you might run into some copyright laws.

I would also do a much simpler design and maybe use a picture of a car you've detailed instead of just some random car on the front.

I also wouldn't bother saying what products you use, because if some one really wants to know, they will ask. Most people don't know the difference between products and if they do, they will detail the car them selves. The idea of saying we use only the best products is good, but you don't have to say what those products are.

Tailoring only to models YOU want to detail is a bad idea I think. If some one wants to pay $120 to get their Focus detailed, then let them. It's just more money in your pocket.

Your grammar is a little off in the description also. When it says:

"You don't just get a powerhose "wash" that WILL end up dulling your paint"

It sounds like you are saying they get that and something else, instead of saying that won't get that at all (because it's bad).

                          Try something like:

"At Premier, we provide a professional level detail that will remove swirl marks and help to freshen up fading paint using only the finest products available. In addition, your car will receive a long lasting protective coating, eliminate the possibility of further damage to the paint. Nothing but a brilliant shine is acceptable here at Premier.”

And to be picky (helpful ;) ), make the subtitles (Bring out the very best, for your well maintained, etc.) all the same font size.

Also, remove the "Reputable brand products" and logs and put your contact info at the bottom center with something like "For more information, please contact:"

Sorry to tear it apart so badly. I've been programmed by a writing teacher. Hope what I suggested helps!

Hmmm somegood pointers there NitroRustlerDriver, coud I use paragraph basedon your recommendation without getting sued for property rights? :p

This is somethin I'll be doing as a passtime on weekends , not at a bussiness place. Went with the marque logos at first cause I'm targeting people that I feel/felt will have the $$ to fork out in my area. Will place the flyer on select higher end cars as a feeler.

Thnx again for your great input.

                              For your flyer:

                              - You gotta use "fine automobile" somewhere.
                              - Claim that the paint will SMELL better afterward.
                              - Use a picture of a body panel finely detailed. Possibly one with a lot of curves to show off more reflection.
                              R.I.P 07/01/09 - 04/23/10 :(
