    Well damn ....

Apparentaly sending out citations and warnings via mail is common practice now. It's 4:35 AM, I just got home from a party, and on my chair is a warning for faulty equipment, exhaust, and others is marked.

No more straight pipe for me I guess, seems to be A-Ok for the rednecks that cruise around with their "hey I'm 5 miles from the pavement trucks" and their straight pipes and glasspacks ....

oh well ... but shit, I didn't even know they sent you shit like that via mail 0_0

Really?? They can give you a ticket about your exhaust without actually looking at your car?

In FL nonetheless? I have NEVER heard of any exhaust violation in FL, and most of my drifter friends have the loudest cars on the planet!

        Wow... You have drifter friends?

You really are a poseur aren't you.

EDIT: WTF? How does an officer mail you a warning for exhaust by simply looking at it?

Unless they have video, I would make the car stock again and then fight it. At least with red light cameras and speed cameras, they have proof. But unless an officer stopped you and inspected your car, they have no way of knowing whether the loudness came from your car or someone else's. I don't think that sneaky tattle-tail evidence should be able to hold up in court. Without any witnesses to cite you and testify, you really cannot prove that a law was broken. Even if you are making a citizen's arrest- You could not do it by mail and expect the charges to stick without confronting them to some degree. After all, we have a right to be confronted by our accuser.

I've seen these streetside setups where the machine somehow reads your exhaust and if it's off, takes a picture and you get a warning/citation in the mail. They're pretty random and temporary but I've seen them....

I also heard Google was going to start participating in this somehow. Something about taking pictures of the inside of your tailpipe...

is there going to be a little man the size of a pill bottle that is going to be let loose to get up in/close enough to your exhaust to take a picture of what is inside of it?

You said it was a WARNING right? I mean, it's not like you have to go to court. Warnings are the dumbest thing ever. All it means is that if you get pulled over for the same thing later, there is no excuse for them not to ticket you. The thing is, you may never get pulled over for it and they still might not give you a ticket even if they do.

I used to get several warnings on a blown out headlight and a cracked windshield. I drove around like that for almost a year and every time I got stopped at night time about the headlight, I would always say, "Yeah.. must have just happened while I was driving tonight. I just had the other side replaced." and then when the cop would also notice the windshield, I would say, "Oh yeah.. that too.. ummm.. it must have just happened while I was out driving tonight.. yeah... they just got done fixing the other side of the windshield."
