Wow, and if that is in kilometers/hour that means that the 5 k/h difference is actually only a 3.1 mi/h difference. Are all the units in k/h?

Well look at the cars they used to compare. Not sure what european car it was, but looked similar to a ford taurus. I know for a fact that my e30 brakes provide sufficient enough braking power to keep me out of most situations like that. Also, just don't drive stupid is the bottom line. On the other hand, a Brembo BBK with 14.2 rotors in the front....enough stopping power to bring the space shuttle to a halt.

Even if they were exaggerating, which I doubt, their main point is still true. Do the math and the braking distances are WAY longer for just mild increases in speed, big brakes or no.

thats not the point, it doesnt matter what car, it just matters about speeding.

i love how my e30 stops on a dime.

all things being equal, a BBK isn't going to make your stopping distance any shorter..

Not with shitty tires you wont. You'll be locking them up with 1/4 of pedal pressure and sliding for a good 5 miles before you come to a stop.

                    Edit: Damn it nando. -.-

I don't get that one, whats the point? Is it now dangerous to sit on fences?!?!?

Seriously, I get their point, but their story's are so circumstantial.

It just HAPPENS to be 2 cars will hit this truck and the difference of 5k is huge. For all the times that REALLY happens. 5k (3mph) isn't even speeding.... Fuck with new tires on your speedo can be that much off. Thats horribly neglectable.

These commercials are stupid, they trump up trivial circumstances to make it seem worse than it is. Whats next? Dramatic commercials about not sliding down the railings of stairs?

                            Good stuff!

Too bad shock value doesn't work on TV anymore, only in real life (even then it doesn't really...). Such ad campaigns will not stop speeding and not wearing seat belts etc.

The point was that 2 identical cars, with identical reaction times and stopping power, one traveling slightly faster than the other will cover more distance in the same reaction time in addition to taking longer to come to a stop, resulting in greater speed at the impact zone.
