I knew a lady that tried that crap. Maybe good for chunk change but not enough to pay the bills.
If you want to work out of your home learn general business and then apply it to your talents. If you realize at some point that you suck at the business side of things then keep working for someone who doesn't.

I work as a stenographer (transcriptionist) at my house. It is a great job. But I work for a friends parent's company, so other than knowing someone, i doubt you'd find a job without some kind of degree.
I just do it part time seeing as i'm a student, but it does very well for me. I get paid by the page, and it's different for every audio file I do. But it will average out to be about $30 an hour. That's without any formal training. If i were to be trained, my pay would increase by about 50%.
That's how I keep from starving.

Now if you want to be a transcriptionist or medical billing, there is absolutely nothing wrong with that provided that this is what you want to do as a career or if someone is offering you a job at their medical office.
On the other hand nobody is going to give you a "work at home" job without any degree of tenure at the company. Most times gimmicks like this are scams. They will have you shell out hundreds of dollars for their "training software" and other materials that eventually ends up being the carrot in front of the horse. And they will keep you spending money on empty promises until you eventually give up. They will make suggestions on how you can find clients but most times a reputable doctor will not seek the services of someone who learned how to do medical billing through some corrospondance course.
