    Duplicating a parking permit?

My apartment complex only gives one parking permit per apartment since our parking lot is small and we are in the middle of downtown. The lot is never full, however, but they tow/boot your car if you come in without a permit so my roomie and I share it every 2 weeks to be fair.

I HATE parking on the street though, so I am wonder if it's possible to duplicate our permit so we can both rock it. It's made out of a thin flexible plastic, maybe 1/8". It's green plastic with a white print on it and it hangs from the rear view mirror. If anybody prints on plastic or has any leads of where I could do this, I'd appreciate it.

      Something similar to this?

I would first find some thin plastic that matches the permits and cut out the shape. Then, just have Kinko's scan and print the text onto clear sticker sheet to stick on the plastic. You might be able to tell it was a sticker up close, but hanging from your mirror, no one would look twice.

My buddy used to do this for college parking. Just print it up on some photo paper and glue to to some stiff white paper. Its not like the can go in your car and inspect it, and I doubt anyone will even look that close at it.

It similar to the one Andrew posted. It does have numbers but I figured I'd fake them, and even if they were they same I'd doubt they'd notice.

you can buy the plastic at an Art Supply store and trace and hand cut. Then either find a screener or someone that does printing that can print on vinyl. I might be able to point you in the right direction.

Im with equate on this one. I dont think matching the material is necessary, as long as you make sure its equally glossy or matte. I dunno which you have but all the ones ive had have been pretty shiny, maybe a coat of clear coat would do the trick? Either that or have it laminated.

I know many university parking Nazi's have hand-held scanners to check questionable passes on the fly. Check your contract to see if they can fine you extra for a violation such as this.

Dude you own an E36 now, which is like, the best most well thought out gods gift to cars off all time.

Just buy a permit off a neighbour that doesn't drive.

Don't know why this didn't dawn on me earlier.....

I use to live in a apartment complex and my car got broken into one day. The bastards took a bunch shit, one of them being the parking pass (not sure why).... anyway...

Talked to the management, and they issued me another one the next day.....

Pretty sure you can connect the dots here...

I agree.. You should just print it out on paper and then stick it to stiff cardboard and then even laminate it if it has to be glossy but most times they are only checking to see if the pass is there and they are not going to do reference number lookup. If that was the case, either you or your roomate would have had been nailed a long time ago for having the pass on the wrong car.

But if you make a fake pass, don't get cocky with it to the point where you let other people use it and certainly do not let other people know that you did this. I would even remove the pass before I let anyone else drive my car.
