When I was new in the industry, the instructor in one of my training classes told us that the ratings for cabling are simply standards of what is promised and your actual results will vary. So for instance, being that the maximum distance for Cat 5 cabling is 328 feet, if you make a run that is 450 feet, nobody is saying that it won't work. They are simply saying that 328 feet or less WILL work. And I think that the same thing applies with Cat 6 wiring. The specs show it to be better cabling but I doubt that anyone makes any equipment or will make any equipment in the near future that will utilize the full capacity of what its able to do.
