I thought this over and here is the deal- Go to court and deny your guilt. Ask the officer and/or the citizen if they are able to prove that you were speeding. Ask the citizen if he can prove that his car was accurately calibrated at the time of the arrest or if he was using radar that has been state approved for law enforcement purposes. Without that, they barely have a leg to stand on and the case will be dismissed.
Secondly, if you lose, inquire about the appeals process. You stated in a previous post that it costs $300 to start the process. Make sure that they are not talking about FELONY charges. When I got nailed in Virginia and attempted to appeal my case, it was a 3 month period before they even determined if I would need any money or an attorney in order to persue my case. The rule was that if you were charged with a felony (which was 20 MPH over the limit) you had to have an attorney present. Even though those rules did not apply to my situation, in the event that I had to get an attorney and pay the court money, that still would have delayed my conviction for a few months if I decided to back out of the appeals process.Comment
