This is a bullshit statement. Here's why Basically all of this shit is a derivative of beethoven or some other dude that's older than Jesus. I'd hate to tell you guys this, but being the bad ass guitar player that I am, there are only eight notes in music. Every band out there is playing variations and combinations of those notes, In reality there all playing the same shit. If there hasn't been anything new since the seventies then there really hasn't been anyhting new since the begining of time. In reality the only new form of music is back in the caveman days when them there missing links were beating on rocks with dinosaur bones , and even there copying somebody. New music is when somebody plays a song that no one has played before.

Don't even bother talking punk if your not going to mention The Exploited, G.B.H., The Circle Jerks, Minor Threat, the Faction, and the list goes on and on and on....

Hardcore never meant more than it does today, It's the same shit. I grew up going to hardcore shows in the 80's and there we're the same nobs then that there are today. Your just getting older and you think the young kids are posers, we thought the same thing about you. People that truly like Hardcore are the same as people that liked hardcore back the.

I snapped a couple of shots with my phone. They took a break at the one hour mark and the four of them just sat on the riser in front of the crowd and chilled. Maynard took a lighter out of his pocket and held the flame in the air. Everyone else in the arena followed.

      and laser beamzzzzz!

They really are a fantastic band and even more fantastic live. They are one of the few bands that I would rather see live than hear play on a CD. Last time I saw them was in support of Lateralus right after 9/11 so there was the air of unity. There was almost a hippy feel in the air when they closed the show in a group hug. I got lucky and had 11th row center seats so the show was amazing to say the least. Ugh... I miss being in the states. :(

I agree, they are that good live. I remember the group hug as well when I saw them 5 days before 9/11. They did the same last night...

              Agreed, they are amazing.

There are too many great rock bands out there to just pick one, so I am going to go with one from a different genre: Blessid Union of Souls, anyone ever listened to them?

Pink Floyd for all time favorite. I still have to stop whatever i am doing to listen to the guitar solo for Comfortably Numb. and all the way back to their old stuff with Syd Barret....i mean that shit was dope too! but i gotta say that the stones are absolutely nuts as well and i love listening to their stuff as well. Favorite new band... MUSE! every single song is amazing and the singer has the range of Thom Yorke from Radiohead but has such a more powerful and accurate delivery. Knights of Cydonia FTMFW

All-time favorite would probably have to be...

Tool. Seen them twice now, back in '01 on the Lateralus tour and last fall on the first 10k Days tour. Seeing them again in a couple weeks. Absolutely un-fucking-believable live show. Whether under the influence or not, its a mind blowing experience.

Band I can't get enough of right now would be The Appleseed Cast.

oddly enough i spent part of sat night hanging out with BAM-BAM the drummer for JFA. i've known him for about 10+ years and hadn't seen him in about 4, caught up and talked about old times, ahhh to be a miscreant again, drunken destruction!!

All time favorite would have to be Ra, Rammstein or Nightwish. Really great stuff, especially with lots of bass. I do like almost every genre and band, however (of what I've heard, which is a considerable amount).
EDIT: Damnit. I forgot my all-time favorite, which surpasses everything else made EVAR: Rush.

As for Tool I saw them both times at the big gym at UCSD (called Remac Arena). It is a good venue, seen other concerts there. I don't like their new stuff. I was a huge fan of Opiate (my fav) and Undertow was decent too.
