      I really can't tell if you're being sarcastic half the time.
      On one hand I would never willingly or purposely harm an animal unless my life, health, or safety was at risk. On the other hand I am not that obsessed with the life, health, or safety of my pets. If I take my dog to the vet and they say that he needs a $700 surgical procedure plus medication that costs $100 a month for the rest of his life I will have him put down. If my dog runs out into traffic and gets run over by a car, the next day I will go out and get another dog. I would also be prepared to compensate the driver for any damages incured.
