I imagine many of us feel that way about the "need" for a carry permit in the first place. Carry permits seem like another tax to me.

I am going to have a blast though. Next up is an AR model rifle of some kind, although I might wait till I get married to my girl friend and move out of state so I dont have to mess with 10 round mags and a fixed mag relies button.

my buddy bought HK's version of an AR....I only looked at it for a few minutes, but from what I saw, the upper/lower fit was awesome, and it had internal detent pins that you remove with a little push pin, trigger action was pretty crisp for a stock trigger. Definitely a quality rifle, but personally I wouldn't pay that much for an AR.

Personally i think the HK 416 is one of the ugliest AR platform rifles. The fore end looks like lego brick.
It just dosent have that 80's-90's futuristic cool Like the G3, MP5, PSG-1, G11, Full size G36, have. Thats why HK were in so many movies back then, they just looked so damn cool.
416 is just a bland tactical tool, with no personality or uniqueness at all.Comment

So, an opinion pls guys. Canada is about to *finally* abolish our long gun registry which I have not supported for a decade or so and as a celebration me and about 7 million other guys are planning to buy "something special" to commemorate
Please keep in mind AR platforms are restricted here (Approved range use only, no hunting, no private "ranges" )
so as an affordable first Semi Auto rifle I am thinking one of either;
M-14 (Norinco) .308
or
Russian SKS 7.62x39
SKS-Russian 7.62 is cheap as hell to feed and the rifle is easy to knock around and beat on without much of a care
M-14, strangely alluring, idk but I fucking love these things...
Also possible are SU-16, or a CZ858 (18.5" Barrel length)

M-14 all the way. Thanks to our Government we can not import the Norinco. Even though its a knock off Norinco is the best of the knock offs. Thats the way I would go hands down.Build your own dreams, or someone else will hire you to build theirs!
