Take a look at the Takedown 10/22 if you want something packable, but viable. I have a friend who claims that shooting that gun is an emergency only situation.

The Henry. It's like you HAVE to shoot a rabbit to survive. The one I linked is packable, but you have a bit more ability with it when assembled for rest-of-the-time-use.Comment

It really is the best compromise in everything for a handgun. If I was only able to own one pistol, it would be a Gen4 G19 without a doubt.Comment

The mag release alone is reason enough to go with a gen4 over a gen3. I'd be more than happy to entertain your incorrect reasoning for hatred :-DComment

There are plenty of better options out there. Especially for the first timer. The grip angle is not natural. I'd try an M&P, XD, XDm...before a block I mean Glock.
When you get a glock the first thing you have to do, if you have the stock regular sights, is to change them out... Why? Because they are plastic, and a "U" shape...seriously...a "U"...
On the subject of the full auto guns, expect to pay at least $10k for like a .22LR and around $20k for like a full auto AR style.
Some go the route of a Slide Fire stock, or there is a new product that is a trigger that does basically the same principle as the Slide Fire stock.

This is just my opinion, others will argue vehemently because disagreeing with a gun purchase is akin to insulting one's mother...don't ask why...it just is.Comment

As mentioned by Tex, the grip angle on the Glock just didn't feel natural to me. The stock trigger can feel spongy and the sights mess with my brain muscle. I have medium sized hands for a grown ass man (mostly I have short thumbs, stupid genetics), so some of the options out there just felt a little bulky and I couldn't comfortably reach the mag release without adjusting my grip (can you say OMG bad news for the always necessary tactical reloads?!). The M&P9 with the smallest backstrap fit my hand perfectly, the ergonomics are awesome IMO. Good sights, always 100% reliable and a bunch of aftermarket crap available if you care. Springfield XD and XDm are also really nice full size options. Rugers are reliable and less expensive, just personally not a fan of the ergonomics and style. The new FN FNS-9 was a really really close 2nd to my M&P, if I had to get another I'd definitely go this route, I liked this handgun a lot. Walther PPQ is also a great new 9mm, the ergonomics are outstanding.
Once again, if you want a polymer full size handgun, just stick with one of the top major brands and you really can't go wrong quality wise. Then it's just a matter of what fits you. For the record here's my list of top brands. S&W, Springfield, Ruger, Glock, CZ, Sig, FN and Walther.Comment

I can at least admit that the Glock, M&P, and XD are all direct competition and are for the most part all come down to personal preference.
That all said, I'll stick with my Sig. :DComment
