The chemical composition of the thujone is somewhat similar to THC....so if anything, it would probably be more like a weed high.

I'm not a fan either, I despise black licorice. Have you tried sambuko? Pretty much the same thing if you ask me.

You mean sambuca? Those are fun shots to light on fire.

Yeah something like that, couldn't figure out the spelling.

Either way it tastes like a mimes asshole... puke.

i taste-tested a green absinthe and a white one in a store in germany 2 weeks ago. the green was VERY bitter (72% Alc/Vol), but it gave the drink some character, and the white one went down very smoothly, but just didn't taste right.

i bought the green one. The guy at the store mixed it 4:1 absinthe:water. i might try it in a shot and sugar at some point, but right now the bottle is merely sitting on my desk

If you're really into the stuff you can make it yourself from a kit that you can get here: absinthe I don't know what the quality is like though, or if it has the actual wormwood in it or not.
Go with God. (my car's full...)
Someday we'll look back on all this and plow into a parked car.

Anyone ever get into the Ouzo and Pastis type drinks of Europe. I've had Ouzo several times in the past and for some reason the desire is returning.

I am a Ricard fan. In summer, I get several glasses daily. Ouzo is great too, but stronger. Even harsher tasting, Arak is also in the same ballpark, for Mid Easterners.

Brake harder. Go faster. No shit.

I will have to try that next. These drinks just seem to have a bit of romance to me.

Edit: I just looked that up and it looks to be the same as Pernod, Pernod Ricard. I already have that on the list to purchase.

Double edit: So yes now I see Ricard on it's own.

                      Care to explain?

I brought some back with me over the summer when I was in Scotland. Shots are definitely a no-no unless you like your shot to be as strong as gasoline.

Some historians now believe that Van Gogh most likely didn't cut off his own ear, and it was instead hacked off by Paul Gauguin's fencing sword when Van Gogh attacked him. So one less thing to notch up for Absinthe possibly.

If you're a real man, pour yourself a shot and light it on fire, then down it.
I drank a half bottle once and woke up on a bus stop in a different city.
