Midwest has the worst weather mood swings ever. In Portland, I've never used AC in a house or a car, and in the winter, the heater gets used sparingly.

I'm not going to rag on the midwest. I lived there for a year, so don't challenge my OPINION. ;)

The rain here, I can deal with. It keeps the air smelling clear and nice. It keeps everything green most of the year, and it keeps the Californians indoors. What's not to like? I don't even own an umbrella.

Regardless, The real reason I live here, is because this spot is one hour from downtown Portland.

ya, it's not much of anything, is it? although they did have a FREAKING huge firework show for all 20,000 people that lived there.

        Damn it was cold there.

Yeah, these are the people that have 5 acres of woods surrounding one of the busiest roads in the NW suburbs (and it's only 2 lanes) and refuse to sell a fraction of it to widen the roads and remove some of the worst traffic outside Chicago. It is fun driving through the downtown and seeing all the milfs in their mercedes and z4s, though.

Midwest weather sucks. It's hot and sticky in the summer and freezing in the winter. Chicago is the only area in the midwest I'd want to live after graduation. I would not complain if I got a good job out west.

The people from PNW I have met, and correlate with some board members, are either always talking about themselves, or their things, or how much they love the area to people who similarly love their own different place of origin, or in a different but equally annoying way there are the emo kids with no problems and try to complain about life anyway. both are utterly bored regardless of how much there is said to see or do. The people I like become involved with soccer or just hanging having fun instead of constantly seeking to brag and/or complain. obviously not everyone acts like that, but the worst is from areas like PNW, Barrington, IL, and Miami, FL. As renowned as the education at my school is, I am bothered by some of those who infest it who can't come to grips of dealing with others or reality. If you know anyone at at Wash U in STL, maybe you know what I'm talking about. Certainly people like that are all around, but the % spikes in particular areas.

for those laid back and just like to have a chill good time, i'm sorry. more people like you should represent the region than the tools I meet
I suppose I can't disagree with you totally. I often catch myself talking up WA state and the PNW. A good example is this thread I suppose. I guess out of all the places I have been, I still prefer home over any of them.

and you don't think other people feel the exact same way about where they live? the majority of Americans have the wealth and means to move, so they could if they wanted. most of us generally settle where we love - no need to try to persaude others that your choice was better
