Isn't this an easily answered question? I'd keep the money and get my e30 to where I'm finally done with it. Then I'd possibly buy another DD car, and then invest the rest.

No, he could have actually pocketed 65,400 euros (about $90,100) - which makes him two times as stupid as you described.

if it was a money laundering thing, he made the right move.

or he could have kept a portion of it and turned the rest in...i would have kept about $60K and turned the rest in...then you still look like a good boy and come out on top

I'll bet it actually had $150k inside and they did keep some.

You know the problem with keeping any of it would be that the person who shipped such mistake would know where you lived !! But I would have still kept it !!! Sat on the couch with my fake gun, since they are not allowed there, and waited for someone to reclaim it !! I bet they turned it all in though affraid of what would happen although at least they will have a chance to get some of it if no one claims it

My first inclination would have been to keep the money and then keep my mouth shut. But then again, I would have been paranoid to the point where I think that the seller would come looking for the money. Being that my Ebay and Paypal accounts both list my current home address I am sure that they would come looking for me once they discovered their error.

And if I had the balls to do it- I would call the seller, tell him that I have his money and then ask him how much is it worth to him for me to not call the cops.

Kinda like in paycheck with ben affleck where he planted the lottery ticket under the bird cage. I was sooo happy when they found it!

I think the money was dirty. The second he used it, he'd be the scapegoat.

                        Thats what I think.

I think I would have contacted the seller and notified him that the item never arrived and wanted my money back. That way it covered me from ever receiving the item to begin with. After that I would have put that shit in a safe at another location to use as I want

Like that would not be obvious to the seller.

the only safe thing to do would be to keep the money in your possession for several months, if the seller came for it you could settle it with them, if they did not then you could just keep it and send it in small amounts on untraceable items.

65,400 is an odd number of euros to accidentally mail. I bet it was an even 100k to start. When you turn it in you get the cops on your side and a chance to get the rest of the money back, sounds like a solid plan.
